Don't know the answer to your question but I have seen those "tiny" homes being marketed all around these days with less space than most should consider![:0]

I always think that such a small dwelling may be a love-nest for a short while but when a rolling pin or cast iron frying pan is always within short reach.....murder comes to mind.[}:)]

As Brookwood alluded to, I do not know the answer. It can not be a good thing though.

I do however, want to give Props to your Son (and much Respect) for Serving, may he come Home safe, if not home already.

A hamlet is not the dwelling it's the small village the people live in. & yes around the world inbreeding does happen in communities like this that are separated from others by great distance or geographic areas

If you look on the other side of it, the inbreeding in England and Europe has been going on since the dark ages, royalty only marrying royalty, they haven't done to bad, with the exception of loosing the united states....[;)]

Actually the British royalty married royalty from other countries most of the time. Such as Queen Elisabeth and her husband Prince Philip, who was born in Greece in the Greek and Danish royal families. Of course the poorer ones married who ever their families could line up for them.

Set your watch back 100 years right here in the US. Outside of cities, and a few pioneer settlers, most people never traveled more than 20 miles from where they were born. There were not that many families around, and your mate would be one of the girls in that community. Marriages between 2nd cousins were common (and legal). Anyone that has pursued genealogy in a small rural community will quickly realize everyone is related to everyone in some manner.

Do not know that it had a negative impact on IQ. But it did make it possible for recessive genes to show up pretty badly.

Yep, my mom's sister married their first cousin.
Oddly, their daughter is high IQ, two University degrees and talented pianist.

They are inbred and they have very low IQ because they are ignorant, uneducated know only the koran and are kept that way by their "Leaders", kind of sounds like another "culture" closer to home.

In most breeds of animals line breeding and inbreeding are commonly used. These breedings usually don't present problems. If there are no known genetic problems you are usually good to go even on an inbreeding basis. What you are doing is doubling up on what genetics are there. Good genes are doubled up with no problems just like bad genes are doubled up with not good results. My guess is that in these villages the genes aren't very good to start with so you end up doubling down on bad genetic traits.

With my rabbits a real good way to produce excellent breeding stock is to start with a top quality buck and eventually breed him to his granddaughters.

That would be my guess as well.

Reminds me of an X-Files Program called HOME. Season 4 episode 2

This is an excerpt,, totally gross, best visuals, best music, bet if you can find the total episode it will "stick with you" forever.

A wonder it made it on the T.V. way back then.

Inbreeding, marrying young and girls not being educated, hell I doubt they educate the boys either. Yet we're at this "war" for what 18 years? You'd imagine we'd hit this low iq generation(s) that'll get mopped up. Maybe in year 20 or 25 in to this war we'll luck in to that low iq generation?

As for the "elder" I imagine them to be like that dude from "Water World". Land locked by mountains and valleys oh and war in this scenario.

Its not that the young are dumb its they do not have school so it takes longer to learn.

The Guy in charge is Normally the head of the church and is the only one to read. That is how the Koran gets so corrupted and becomes a way to kill others.

"Inbreeding" of animals MAY present problems as it may accentuate certain traits which cause physical or mental deformities. A single "in-breeding" in a family tree probably isn't going to trigger mental deficiencies but several generations could present an abnormality.

He noticed that the people live in small hamlets and this causes inbreeding. He said many of the children he saw had very low IQs. A group usually had an elder that ran the group and was capable. However as the age of the people got lower, their IQ went progressively lower.
Could this be affecting these countries progressively?

Saw the SSDD in Newark. Yes it's obvious but not to demoncraps Scamming Haredi Jews same thing. Inbreed then 1/2 their kids are in $$$pecial needs classes. YOU pay their with taxes.

+1 If a weakness the inbreeding with make it much worse and we all have weaknesses. You want to find a big strong spouse that their grandparents are 100 years old and still mow their on yard.

Some of the cloistered communities in this country still have that issue. I was at an auction a couple of years ago and there were a lot of Amish people. I noticed that the little children look a little sickly and a little "off" as in maybe stunted development mentally. I mentioned that to a friend and he told me that the issue of inbreeding for these people was a big problem as they marry within their own group. He told me a story of a friend who did a lot of business with the Amish and he was approached to introduce new blood to the community. Apparently he agreed but the provision was while the act was completed the Husband and Father of the woman had to be present in the room to observe and there was to be no fun involved.

How did your son measure their IQ? With an American IQ test? Or an Afghani IQ test?

Congratulations to him for his service and his insight into the intelligence of people in a different culture.

Inbreeding is really pretty darn rare. Pretty much every society in the world understands the risks of inbreeding, and in almost all of them incest is taboo.

I think there might be a much simpler explanation.

In America we have very effective prenatal screening for birth defects and mental retardation, and most women who get a positive test decide to terminate the pregnancy. If you walk through an American school, you see very few kids with Downs or obvious mental impairments. 30-40 years ago you'd see a bunch, and now there are hardly any. As American women have babies later and later, we should be seeing a huge increase in the numbers of messed up kids. We're not because of prenatal screening and abortion.

In the impoverished hamlets of Iraq and Afghanistan, there is no prenatal testing and no abortion services. Add in that in America even poor women get very good prenatal care and nutrition and their exposure to environmental toxins is rather low, while in crappy Iraq and Afghanistan women are surrounded by trash, drinking dirty water, and get very little prenatal care from a doctor.

I'd chalk up all the messed up kids your son saw to those things before I'd chalk them up to inbreeding and incest.
