Springfield "White Feather" M25
Been eye balling the one that's been at the local for a bit. $5,000 with a Leupold scope 3.5-10 X40 [:0]. If I get this I'll be emptying out the pantry, freezer and resort to having hot dogs as a "meat" source for really long time. Not just a few weeks of Top Ramen.
I always told myself I'll never buy a fire arm costing more than my car but after last year's pay out of the accidents my car is technically free as if I never paid for her. By thinking and believing this I can freely think about considering paying twice as much as my car cost back in '02 [:0][:0][:0].
Still $5K for a M14 in semi is a lot. At least there is no mod to be done since she is done. That's kind a good.

I just had a gun shop owner pick up a shotgun and he mentioned he had a Fulton Armory EBR M14 he wanted me to sell for him. I should have it next week.The pictures look pretty cool. 0 -
I have owned maybe six M1A's over the years and while I know it doesn't have a walnut stock, the first time I shot a FN SCAR 17 I no longer needed a M1A. The SCAR will out shoot the M1A and I think weights a pound less. Plus the damn thing has no muzzle rise.And they come in brown.[:)] 0 -

mogley98 - I believe there's more to the Hathcock than a paint job. They mentioned something about 1/2" M.O.A. out of a semi [:0].

Yeah I saw that with the fugly stock [:D]. The one at my local "supposedly" been never shot out side of factory, with a Leupold scope and is willing to take payments with the owners agreement. If the owner says no then off to something else.0 -
1/2" from a M1A is really good. That rifle will weigh close to 15 pounds by the time you get glass and a loaded mag. It sure is pretty. 0 -
Ricci Wright - Yeah she's a big girl. Not for humping but for benching [:D]. I'd say prone, too but it took me a while to get off the deck this weekend. After installing the oil cooler lines and me looking like a turtle on it's back on the crawler I ain't made to be on the ground [:D].
The thing I don't get after reading "Marine Sniper 93 Confirmed Kills" and "Silent Warrior" I don't recall Carlos using a M14.
The M14 was used by the other guy who took out a platoon of VC at a river crossing doing the Sgt. York. What was his name? Used those big ass night vision scope to do this. This would've made more sense Springfield putting out the M25 with is name. But I suppose WhiteFeather is more memorable than the dude's name I can't recall.
Now I have to go and find out dude's name since it's gonna bug me.0 -
Chuck Mawhinney that was easy. Just typed up Vietnam river crossing nightvision M14 out popped his name. I reckon the M25 should've been named after this dude. 0 -

As I recall, Carlos and one Bud used their M-14's to hold off a rather large unit. Supposedly killed a lot of the enemy that were not counted in his 93 confirmed kills. I don't recall the M-14's being scoped, either, but you know what they say about old age and memory!0 -
I want to say Hathcock was running a Winchester M70 chambered in 30-06. The spotter May have had a M14 so as to add some ?fire power? in case they needed to run. I don?t think the M14 was used as a scoped rifle till the Marine Corp used them maybe starting in Iraq. Then I think they called them Designated Rifleman weapons. You would have to ask Sam or Grumpy about that as they would know more than me. Anyway you can use the big ol girl to do some curls when you?re not shooting her. [:)]watch Blackhawk Down and you can see the DELTA boy show up with the M14 Scout. 0 -

The USMC was using Winchester M70's (Pre 64) with unertl scopes.
The Army used M21's, which are accurized M14's(Wood stock, Glass Bed, fixed op rod guide and douglas non chrome lined barrel) with ART 1 and 2 Scope mounts and Redfield 3x9 scopes fited with the ART Cam. This is what I used when I went to SS.
This was the standard US Army Sniper rifle until the M24 came out in 1988 but most units did not field it until 1990 or so.
The USMC uses a M40 now which is a SA Rem 40X while the Army uses the M24 a LA Rem 700. The USMV I believe still uses a fixed 10x unertl and the Army used a Fixed 10x Leupold M3 Ultra but I believe they use a 6.5-20x Leupold Mk4 now.
5K is way too much for that gun if you want a shooter. Like stated before the FN Scar or a used SR-25. The SR-25 is an excellent system and a great shooting gun.0 -
Word is that according to Hathcock, himself, he had over 300 kills. The majority of those above 93 would likely have come from his use with a standard M-14. He also used the Remington M-40.
