My take on Seattle Wa and the life there
First of all my flights were not delayed at all but the smoke was unreal. It came from Canadian fires, not California according to my DIL. I wonder if we can put a tariff on the smoke?
My eldest, John and his wife, Mali live in Burien in a beautiful home with a lovely view of the water and the islands. My youngest toddler, Lee now 33, 6'5" 295# of work out muscle and his 4'11" wife, Jill live in a Seattle apartment building paying what I consider to be utterly INSANE rent for a small one bedroom.
We ate out a lot all the time, the food in Seattle is fantastic. On a scale of 1-10 measuring across the board average I give the food a 8.5. The service received from the wait staff was also excellent, helpful, friendly, attentive and never intrusive. The food prices were a bit on the high side of reasonable to my hillbilly price checker mind.
Beer, lots of it, lots of craft beers with an unlimited variance available. I had some of the best craft beers of my life while in Seattle. My son said due to the level of competition only excellent or better establishments make it, it looks to be true. He also claims the $15.00 minimum wage has not hurt the restaurant industry, it only weeded out less than excellent establishments. I have zero evidence to judge that statement either way.
The people. Okay, here is where it gets dicey. I did not say one word political to any family or their friends, my DIL's dad is a definite conservative, he was the only fellow thinker there.
My DIL has a BLM sign in her yard. She is a unabashed Progressive and nothing will change her mind. She knows Trump is a bigot, racist devil spawn and anything he does is bad no matter what it is, end of discussion. I ran into more happys/ trans/ God knows what's and weirdos than I though could possibly exist on the entire planet, all in this one city.
One feller, 25 y.o. was at a in-law family gathering Sunday. He was barefoot had one big toenail painted green the other purple. He is happily unemployed, studying code "someday" a wonderful and charming intelligent conversationalist. This creature has a horrid body odor because he is vegan and does not want to put mans chemicals on his body.
Antigun bumper stickers abound, Obama, Hillary, BLM and any Progressive bullcrap mantra poster is plastered everywhere. One establishment on an island had a big sign in the store saying "WE CAN STOP GUN VIOLENCE". I bit my tongue to stop from asking "how"? I did not buy from them, imagine that.
The stupid rich money flooding this area has created a microcosm of unreality about government, taxes and what society owes each individual regardless of their personal effort. There is an unlimited list of excuses for people being takers. These takers are producing nothing, they do not have to. The Seattle stupid rich Society has the money to give them 50K a year tax free while they squat in buildings or live under a bridge.
The stupid amount of money allows them to have $50 breakfasts, $75 lunches and $100 dinners with pocket change. My eldest is making about 300K a year coding for Oracle. The city insulates them from the millions of people living in flyover states. Jason Aldean even has an excellent song about flyover states.
I really enjoyed the Boeing Air Museum but it cost $24 a head to get into it. To my son that is pocket change, to a normal working man that is you better think about this money for his family.
I want to go back soon. It is the place my sons are so I will just suck it up and go frolic among the weirdos and enjoy my family while trying to keep my big fat mouth firmly shut. If you look at a pie chart of voters in Seattle the number of non Hillary loving type democrats is a rounding error for zero.

Actually I was a passenger, riding El Presidentie style. We had almost no traffic issues even when going to Everett. My DIL handles her Subaru Outback quite well. Speed limits do seem to be a suggestion, not a rule.0 -
I love Seattle in the same way I love San Francisco. Beautiful city, gorgeous water, fantastic food, absolutely slimy people.
I could never live in either. I have lived in Sunnyvale and Palo Alto, as well as Port Orchard, WA. Closest I could ever get to those sinkholes of liberal crapthink.0 -
If you want to get away from the weirdos take a drive over here to the middle of Washington. Great breweries and wineries. Great food can be found here too. Tons less traffic and people. Hell we even have an Air Museum and a Cabelas [:D] This side of Washington is solid Conservative unlike the Westside cesspool. 0 -

No traffic issues? So you did all your traveling after 10pm?
I think we were counter cyclical to the heavy traffic. I had all day Wed through Monday about noon, we were on the move a lot.
Monday at 11:30 AM the airport security line was an absolute zoo. It moved fast but it was about an hour getting through it all. They were not taking off shoes, all pocket items were to be placed into the carry on and went through the x-ray.
The TSA folks told people to stop shuffling their feet and move, they were not kidding around. When someone stopped in the middle gawking the TSA guy would shout at them to pick a line, get in it and keep moving.
I made my flight with time to spare because the TSA guys were not kidding around with those folks lollygagging along.
Oh, I got pullet over at 2:30 AM by a Meigs county Sheriff Deputy in Pageville OH. He was doing 30 in a 45 so I legally passed his ass. He pulled me over. I had my hands at 10 and 2 when he approached, asking if I was in a hurry. I said "I am but am driving the speed limit with safety in mind when I passed you going slowly in a legal passing zone". He looked at my face, smiled and amazingly HE DID NOT SHOOT ME DRT!!!!0 -

I was born and raised in Burien! Left the area in 1990.
I have to visit Seattle to see relatives. I also need to go to tha Renton airport
occasionally, I do some work there for my old buddy at The Landing Gear Works.
