Dad VS Mom, safety instructions to a son
Liam has been working on clearing off the brush and mess that has grown around our pasture fence. He has taken a sawzall, hatchet, machete, and such out to work on getting all of this stuff cut and cleared away. Its a HORRIBLE chore, so he has been working on it a little at a time.
Larry saw him heading out to get some done this morning and followed him out the back door. I was in the living room and they were going through the kitchen to the back door. I hear Larry say "you should get some glasses if you're gonna run that saw" and Liam reply "I'm ok".
This is when I come stomping through the house past Larry and meet Liam on the porch. I have my finger in his face and I tell him with my NO JOKE mother tone "You BETTER go get some dang glasses, I don't care what kind, and if I see you working without them I'll come out there and beat your rear with the flat side of that blade son."
I swear, you all need to go hug your mamas. She is a frazzled mess because of yall.

Amazon. Forestry Safety Helmet. $26.74 free shipping. Hardhat WITH ear muffs AND a mesh visor. My guys use those, along with chainsaw chaps. Mesh visor does not get smeared with oil from the bar lube. Glasses can. 0 -

There is a lesson here for some of us! Yesterday I was doing some quick landscape trimming with hand trimming shears. Naked eyes. What could go wrong?
I bent over to reach a copperleaf branch and what grazed the side of my eye was the tip of a false agave (a narrow VERY sharp spear shaped plant stiff enough to easily puncher the skin). fraction of an inch from in my eye. Would have been very bad. My bad. I know better!

I'll have to look into that. He never has to be reminded to wear anything when shooting, but let a power tool of any kind get dragged out and he thinks he is impervious to harm.
He is 21....the youngest of my three and last to be living at our house. I will hate to see him move out when the time comes (not because Larry is horrible to be alone with, but there is always so much to do around here and the house will be too quiet with just us and the dogs.)0 -

Now to put it in perspective she was with her 6 boys ages 3 to about 12 or 13.

Back when Liam was younger and I used to pick up him and his buddies from football practice after school and take them to the water park. My car smelled so bad for about three years straight....sweaty football gear, chlorine, and dirt.
One afternoon I had this feeling come over me in the kitchen..."go look"......so I stopped what I was doing and went outside to find the group of boys gathered in the field where the beehives are, one of the boys arm cocked back with a tennis ball about to lob it at one of the hives. A row of 5 pre-teen boys standing about 10 feet from the hive he was going to "disturb". I think that was the first time I tore into a child that wasn't mine EXACTLY as if they were mine.0 -
