All around it going up in smoke.

On a Normal summer day it is so hot you do not ride a motorcycle in town. The stuff they use to fix cracks in the road tuns to liquid and is like riding on oil. I have almost fallen crossing the road on foot when this happens. Down there you carry a foot pad for your Kick Stand. Cause If you do not you will come back out and find your bike on its side.

    Sad to see, 5 lives lost, and 100's of homes. I'm 160 miles south, and every morning the smoke here is like brown fog. I know a lot of people that live and work in the areas of town that burned, and no contact with any of them now.
    A relative of one, said they watched the fire tornado go across Whiskeytown Lake and tear through the trees on the other side. The entire shoreline went up in flames, marinas, boats, everything.
    It's heading for Trinity Lake and out towards Shasta Lake now. 90,000 acres and growing, only 5% contained.

    grump, this fire map stays updated pretty good, the CalFire maps can lag a couple of days sometimes.

    Last year it was Santa Rosa that got burnt up.

    I feel bad for the families of the people that lost their lives, but DAMMIT California has this all the time and they never do anything to avert massive fires. If they'd just thin out the forests in that state, they could handle fires a helluva lot better.

    California maintains the stupid jackass environmental idiot style of "don't touch anything" until it burns up. Then they all go "What happened?" Same with mudslides. They get them all the time. Yet, they still build on steep sidehills. wth???

    Hard to feel bad for the state that leads the Darwin Awards every year.

    From what I have read on Drudge and other sources sounds like a fire storm in the Redding area. During WW2 the British during the night bombed Dresden Germany and the Americans during daylight which was a called a firestorm. My understanding the fire gets so hot it develops what is similar to a tornado or also can be called a firestorm it is self feeding to a point there is no control only destruction

    Hold the phone. From what many of the more enlightened participants here say, man made climate change is a hoax. These fires are totally natural and there is nothing anybody can do to change that.


    Seriously, I wonder when folks will wake up.

    Ford, it made 70mph winds that tore roofs off, and flipped cars! There's been several reports of flaming tornadoes that ripped through subdivisions.

    mag, just because it is hot does not mean there is climate change. And if there is climate change it most definitely not prove it is man-caused. Nor is there any evidence that it can be man-managed or changed.

    Man I hate doing this but think he was ragging on Calif Politicians that have no clue how to manage the forest. Cause he is right.

    Incredible. I've never heard of such a thing. Had to look it up. Sounds like in another of your posts, TRAP, that a fire tornado carried the fire across the lake and then destroyed what was on the shoreline. What seemingly looked to be a safe place was taken out in unbelievable fashion.

    Really sad for the people there.
