Amazed at todays technology
Me and my lady both got new iPhone Xs this weekend, wow these things have come a long way. I?ve been a faithfull Apple customer from the beginning with iPods and iPhones and recently iPads. I have owned every generation of iPhone, iPod Classic and iPod Touch, just traded my iPad Air II for a 12? iPad Pro, to say I?m a fan of these products is an understatement and will never consider going to a different brand.
This iPhone X, no home button, facial recognition that not only unlocks the phone but can be used for passwords is unreal. My Alienware gaming laptop has facial recognition but nowhere near as advanced as this, totally awsome.
Charging, no more power cords needed! I got a charging base that you just lay the phone on and it charges, wireless charging, how in the hell does that work?? Another cool feature that just blows my mind. And before y?all say it I don?t care if Android or another product beat them to it, we are talking Apple here!
I think back to my first computer, a Commodore 64, floppy disk drives, having to learn computer language, the crappy TV screens and horrible graphics. Atari gaming systems were the rage, then Nintendo came along and upped the ante, remember the Odessy system that made a brief showing?
Compters and phones have evolved, it is unreal. If you had mentioned this when I was a kid I would have thought you as a nutjob. This little phone does more than Commodore and Atari put together, hell just the graphics alone!! My iPad has better picture quality then my parents top of the line RCA floor model TV did in 1985! Watching movies on the iPhone of iPad is mind blowing with the picture quality.
Been playing with this phone today exploring some of the new features, my God even the advances from the very first iPhone is crazy. Who needs a TV or computer anymore?
Now the scary part, I know this is unescapable unless you choose to live in the dark ages, the tracking this phone can do is unreal, it can pinpoint me at home but looking at rhe satalite view of my home it shows where I?m at in the house! I?m fully aware of being spied upon with the use of this phone, you cannot escape it, but wow this is amazing.

The tracking thing is a little disturbing.
While I typically have the 'location services' turned off, whenever I want to use the map feature, I obviously turn it on.
Because I link my phone to my car, when in the map function, it will show me where my car is located.
Not sure if it links with the GPS in the car, or just remembers the location where it was disconnected, but it was interesting the first time I saw it.0 -

You can only see our house from Cameron and to the drop where airport road is, once you drop off the hill at airport road we are hidden. As you are heading north and going past the weigh station look at the development and look at the northwest corner, closest to the highway and town, that is our place, state land on both sides of the property.

In Idaho, but spend lots of time back over in Wyoming hunting, fishing, and visiting Grandkids in Powell. That is why I pass your place several times during the winter, summertime I use the shortcut through the Park. Summertime when I pass it is usually going to a rodeo somewhere in Montana to watch grandson, he's been riding the northern rodeo association this summer.
I usually just wave and say Howdy, when I am about a mile or so South of the mailboxes [:D]
My next planned pass through will be afternoon of 2-November headed to Powell for opening day of Pheasant season on the 3rd.

The capability to track where you are inside a building has existed in iPhones since at least the 6, maybe the 4. 0 -
Don't worry. Google was tracking you, even with ??? gps turned off. However, google has admitted they WERE keeping track of Android phone users.
DON'T WORRY. GOOGLE HAS ASSURED THEY WON'T SELL OR USE THIS DATA.

Tracking is one thing but the live microphone is a bit disturbing. You can be heard by the mic in the phone and "they" can listen in without you even suspecting a thing. 0 -
I had an iPhone 6, I hated it. You had to pay for everything, now I'm back to Android[^][^][^] 0 -
They're really handy for work. I carried a company Android for several years until I retired but I don't need one enough to pay for one these days.
I just use my old lap top and carry a $12 flip phone sometimes. I don't even wear a watch anymore.0 -

Jack Reacher never wore a watch either. Had a built-in clock, accurate to within 1 or 2 minutes. Not only knew the time but he had a "built in" alarm clock in his brain.

Electronics have been amazing. In my lifetime I have seen the first pocket radios, digital watches, cheap electronic calculators, computers, pocket televisions, pocket telephones, small electronic maps & now small pockets devices that can do all of the above. My grandfather was a teenager before the Wright bothers built their first flying machine. I have to wonder what my grandchildren will live to see?
It would be impossible to guess since the pace of invention is only increasing & has been since the steam engine.0
