I swear, sometimes you just have to hang up!

I just got a call from someone that said he bought a NEW gun, but it looks like it was fired. It is part of a store's inventory and the invoice we had said it was new. There are NO blems, the bore is the issue. He says it looks like it would have passed for new if it just had a bore snake run down the barrel. I tell him.....just send the gun back and I'll give you a refund. He says he doesn't want to do this. He insists that I give him money. I say NO, that is not going to happen. I tell him to send it here or keep it....that is the two options. He wants me to pay shipping back. I tell him NO, that if he wants to return it he can get it back to me in the condition it left and I'd be happy to return his money. He starts ranting about nobody checking the bore and how we "could have shipped a loaded gun".....which is when I tell him he is crazy because pictures in the listing show the action open. Then I just decide I've had ENOUGH and hang up.

So......bad feedback is coming my way for sure.....but I'd rather have a bad feedback on my listing than talk to that goober one more minute.

Some people look at each day as a reason to fuss about something......without looking for all the reasons to be happy or being satisfied they are ITCHING to complain.

    Don't several states even require spent cartridges accompany the gun showing the mfg proof tested it?

    Like Mr. Perfect mentions I got a Glock that had two empties for the cops to keep just incase similar cases with markings pop up in a case.

    I wondered on occasion how some folks with Pythons claim "new" in box. It can't be "new" if it's been shot at the factory [:D].

    He called back and we both apologized. I told him my personality just amplifies whatever I'm dealing with.....so if someone wants to fight I'm all in.....or if they are happy I'm going to be tickled pink. He seemed to be ok with the idea of free shipping on his next order if he wins another auction. So, this nightmare has passed (for now.)

    I don't know what I'd do if I just had a day go by without some kind of dumpster fire.

    went thru the same with pistola,on my books since recieved from wholesale,, buyer said used threats with GB fraud claim,told to send back for full refund ,,wanted me to pay him first,,,found out he is disbared lawyer[:D] every gun is fired at factory,,

    I know you probably don't have the time, but I would run an oily patch through the bore, even on a new gun. Some people hate getting a dirty gun.
    I have never bought a new gun with a fouled bore; I assume the factory cleans them after the test-fire.

    I bought a S&W 22 M&P from a well known seller in Kentucky. When I got it there was oil all over it, and powder where it was fired. I was bummed out for 90 seconds. What should I do? I figured it was test fired. It has free service. Big deal..It never caused me a problem. Things happen. [:)]

    He sounds like a nub, all guns are test fired at the factory.

    Every new S&W revolver I have ever bought had burn rings on every other cylinder because they fire them at the factory. I prefer that they do that to make sure it is in proper order.

    3 times I have shipped a firearm directly to its manufacturer for warranty work or repair or parts replacement.

    One was a pardner NEF single shot break open 12 gauge shotgun

    One was a heritage arms SAA revolver in .22 rf

    One was a browning citori lightning over under 20 gauge shotgun

    All 3 came back having been test fired - showing evidence of test firing

    Browning went as far as including a shot pattern test target and four empty hull

    And I know the cancer has effected my brain but on pistols at least were manufacturers not shipping new pistols with once fired brass cases in a small manila envelope - and retaining one or shipping one to an oversight authority for possible forensic identification purposes???

    Personally I am thankful for such testing.

    The only time I have seen a kerfuffle over the practice was amongst Smith and Wesson collectors who bought odd examples of various models

    For future return on investment resale value the guns were kept new in box with all the paperwork and ephemera - the boxes themselves protected prior to storage with a special cardboard sleeve

    The rub was they protested the ffl holder opening the box and handling the firearm upon receipt - to accurately transcribe the serial number into the bound books

    Also since many of these guns were kept stashed away until the market conditions were right was storage. Collectors want new in box and undamaged box - even cylinder turn marks will upset them. They debated whether to wipe a gun down and run a snake through the bore prior to rebagging and reboxing - worried that test firing and handling might lead to deterioration in long term storage

    Or if further handling and cleaning would hurt the value

    If I may humbly suggest - be prepared in the future to put the angry idiot in direct contact with the manufacturer so they can explain the test firing prior to distribution practice

    Cut yourself out as middle man and dump him on the maker

    That's what I ended up doing with such idiots
