WD40 the perfect gun lube

NOT!! I have just spent an hour trying to scrape all the brown crud on an old Winchester Super X model 1 left behind from years of WD40 sprayings. Damn near couldn't work the bolt at all, now it's like the bolt is riding on bearings.Scraped it off with a small screwdriver and washed it with Rem Oil and now I need to test fire.

    you can lubricate with anything but keep in mind that a lot of stuff does not provide rust protection.

    Acetone will damage plastics, it is a superior de-greaser of metal and your skin . It should not be inhaled.

    Let's face it. WD-40 is one of those topics (and there are very many) on which we will not agree. There are those who love it, and there are those like me, who won't ever buy it, and no one is going to change anyone's opinion of it.

    My Sigs came with owners manuals that said, Use CLP for everything, cleaning and lubing. Bet no gun manufacturer ever said that about WD-40.

    In SIG Armorer class, cleaning and lubrication was discussed, and the official word from the SIG instructor was: You may use any cleaning and/or lubrication product that is made for use on firearms.

    Sometime after that, I discovered Gibbs, and that's all I use, except I use PB Blaster on stuck screws.
