    Favored rifle of the Provisional IRA.

    George Harrison the gun runner(Not the beatle) brought 100's of them to the PIRA. They were known as the "Widow Maker of the North". I am sure the Kennedy's through NORAID paid for a heap of them.

    The Brits must have been impressed with them because they replaced their FNFAL's with a bullpup version of the AR-180.

    I have shot a few of them and they are not too bad a shooting gun.

    That is a Sterling made gun so it was made after 1979.

    I have an early HOWA with the hand stamped 0 and prefer it over the 15 due to the gas system.

    While the original marked mags are rare and hard to find, with a Dremel cut off wheel, a 3 ounce ball peen, and a steady hand, you can convert an AR-15 mag to AR-18 in about eight minutes. The mag will still function in a 15 too. I remember a company in the '70's that sold the catholic mags for awhile.

    Those are very desirable. The Costa Mesa made guns and the Howa bring a premium, unfortunately Sterling made the most and are not as desirable to a collector.

    $150 shipping is pretty reasonable for Priority Mail. This thing weighs around 40 pounds.
