I may have made a mistake
Early in our relationship I encouraged my now-wife to get her carry permit. She often carries her j-frame .38
A few days ago we had captured a mouse that got into a tote too steep to climb out of. I was going to dispatch it and she threw a fit. Instead of a quick, relatively painless suffocation, it was released 40 yards from the house to become a predator meal or starve. Somehow that was better.
What in the world is going to happen if she ever needs to use deadly force?

Sounds like she will shoot him in the knee and leave him to die.
Could be worse.

Depends on if it's a man or a mouse.

Mice are very adaptable, it will be fine. I have often observed that people who love animals a little toooo much, often do not feel the same about their fellow man.

As long as the bad guy isn't wearing Mickey Mouse ears and mask she will probably do o.k. 😀 Bob

One of my favorite activities is shooting vermin with my silenced 22.
In the barns and at the cabin! Its not allowed in the house.
Come on, Man, its Christmas -- get her a silenced 22.

Is she is going to hit a mouse at 40 yds with her 38, she will need a lot of range time first. 😀

40 yards? That mouse probably beat you back to the house.

With precious few exceptions ... your fellow man isn't worth spit !!!

Not a problem if you shoot a Heritage Rough Rider! Guess they are good on leaf sized mice from 75 to 100 yards even moving.

Shoot JJ, I'd be willing to shoot a mouse off your head at 75-100yards.
Come on down. 😂
