Remington 725 extractor source
Does anybody know of a source for an extractor for a Remington 725 (30-06)? I have also heard of modifying the bolt face and using an AR15 extractor.
Thanks.

Gun Parts Corp. has some but they require the double rivets.
The most common replacement today is to have the M16 extractor machined into the bolt nose. Many gunsmiths offer this as a service. Prices vary but usually somewhere around $100 - $125.

I like the M16 extractor idea! Any idea where I could get drawings?

Try this article first:
Badger Ordnance M16-Style Extractor Installation on a Remington 700
Chamber options when barreling a Remington 700 receiver are limited by action length and the inside diameter of the bolt face. If the action has a 223 (.384″) bolt face, that means 308 (.473…There are 3 different sizes for these extractors so a dimension drawing will only account for one. You should measure the extractor in hand and use those dimensions for milling.
OR
%PDF-1.4 %????And for thos who practice YouTube gunsmithing, there are 1/2 a dozen 'how to' there.

Years ago, we used to replace Remington 700 extractors with those made for Sako rifles . (Brownells) Not sure if that will work for you...but ?

Sako extractors were actually used before the M16 extractor became more popular. Here is the article about installing one of these:
Installing a SAKO extractor in a Remington 700/ Model Seven
In this post Rifleshooter.com will install a Sako extractor in a Remington bolt action rifle. What is a SAKO extractor? A Sako extractor (above) is the name given to the style of extractor used on …I and many other gunmakers stopped using the Sako-style when they showed a potential for blowing out of the bolt when subjected to high pressure. If this happened, there was no saving the bolt. But this style still gets used and installed.
Best.
