M-1Carbine
I have inherited a Plainfield model that looks like new. I have no magazines though. Has anyone used Promags or should I stick with USGI?
Thanks guys,

Promags are garbage no mater what gun they are supposed be for. Find some US Military 15 round mags.

sounds like a nice rifle
there fun to shoot and filled a nitch in WWII
I know not much help I have always just used military surplus ( made by the various company's for them ) in mine . not sure what they even go for now they had to make countless mags over the years so a common non rare version should (JMHO )not be crazy prices check the auction side and sure there is countless aftermarket mags that work just as well maybe better ?
I would do a internet search and see reviews on the different brands

I am unfamiliar with Plainfield. Is that post war commercial? I might have some mags you can use.

Yes, it's post war - "65 - '78. Judging from the s/n it's probably mid run.

Plainfield carbines are commercially made; most parts except for the receiver were USGI. Quality is probably the best of all commercial carbines. Late carbines may have problems, so best to have a gunsmith check it out before firing.
USGI 15 rd mags will likely work best.

My Dads WWII M1 mags fit our Plainfield.

My opinion is the same as Ricci's. Promags suck. IMHO
Stick with original M1 Carbine mags. They function without issues. Not difficult to find.

Hey Jeff, if you will PM me a snailmail addy I will send a couple after New Years that should work. USGI 15 rund. may not be pretty, but functional.
