As far as I'm concerned, the gov't can shut down so we the people can get back to work!

I'm thinking as hard as I can, but I can't come up with anything that I see as a downside to the government shutting down.

Well they can't be any more inefficient or slow. I just received a letter saying they finally processed my income tax from last February and my small pittance of a refund will be in the mail in 3 or 4 weeks. Since they are that far behind now how bad will it be for this next tax season? It doesn't look like they have been doing any work with the government open so we probably won't notice if they are shut down. Of course we won't save any money because they get back pay once the budget is approved, kind of like a paid vacation. Bob

All that happens during a shutdown is the employees go home and get a nice paid vacation from infringing on our rights, making reams of stupid regulations and seizing your assets by force of law.

Shut it down and save of all a few days of oppression.
