Remington shotguns can be dated by by 2 or 3 "code letters". They are located on the left side of the barrel, just forward of the receiver. This supposes that the barrel is original, and hasn't been replaced.

this barrel actually has 4 letters ALME

redman, if there isn't a letter prefix to the serial number, it was made before 1968. The V serial suffix indicates Standard Frame, 2.75". "IF" Remington answers the phone, they can tell you by the serial number, and sometimes they get it right. Seems if they can tell you over the phone, there should be a database somewhere, but I have yet to find it.
Left side of the barrel, right next to the receiver is where the date code is, but if it ever went back to the factory for repairs, there can be all kinds of stamps and letters in the same place.
If you can get a good close up of the markings in that area, I might be able to figure it for you.
