I think I scored.....
on a Colt Series 70. Local internet-only auction going off yesterday that had only about 12 guns but other outdoorsy stuff. Bought 3 knives at decent $ but not bargains. Had a Ohio Presidents Special Edition gold inlaid Series 70 in a blue box that is like a book with colored wording and edging on it. On the right side of gun, it says in very small print "Colt Government Model 45 Cal" with "Hartford, CT" and "1 of 250". It has gold engraved images of 7 presidents with their names along with the "1 of 250". The gun looks absolutely brand new and I think I did real well at $725 plus 10% buyers premium. Best I can tell with what I have found is it was made in 1979. There was also a Remington Peerless 12 over/under in the box ($775 I believe) as well as a WW Greener sxs in the box ($1,400 I believe). The Greener might have a bargain also, but I really have no interest in old shotguns.

Yep, you did good. I bought a Colt SAA “Arizona Centennial “ made in 1963 for $1000. Unfired in the display box. Colt commemoratives are usually made as good or better than standard production, imho.

I like to get commemorative models that have been fired but are in excellent shape. The value of those crash to below standard gun levels.
About 10 or 12 years ago I got a Colt .22 Alamo commemorative which had a cylinder drag line and was missing the cylinder pin. Got it for $325, put a standard cylinder pin in it and had a very fancy-looking plinker. At that time they were maybe 5 or 6 hundred bucks NIB.
You got a better deal but I like to buy guns I can shoot if I want to.
