Vintage Pistol
Need information on an old pistol.
Patented Oct. 25, 1864. No other markings.
Single shot, small caliber, possibly .22.
Overall length is 16 inches.
Original barrel may have been replaced with the current longer one.
Thank you.

The long barrel is similar to that of the Frank Wesson bicycle gun, so I would assume that yours is original. May have had the same purpose.

Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms, has a small section on Connecticut Arms and Manufacturing Co. He mentions, that a 12" barrel target model was made in 32 rimfire. From the adjustable sights on yours. This is no doubt what you have. Very uncommon and likely to be quite valuable. To a collector of off beat antique 19th century US firearms. To bad you don't have the original wire shoulder stock that it came with.
