That is one of our annoyances as well. We do cheap transfers, $10. We Hate it when a gun hits the door and have a pushy customer, standing there 5 minutes later wanting his gun. Many times we didn't even now it was there yet as we hadn't had time to deal with the freight yet.

As for legalities the gun has to be recorded into their A&D book by the time business closes the day it arrives.

I hope you got it worked out and just maybe the owner or the person you deal with normally gave a explanation of the bad service at least gave you a better deal on receiving it . I do feel your pain all excited and then told to go away ( like Dorthey at the Emerald city door )

I have a long time friend I met years ago had a shop for many years then just started doing it as a hobby at home , great guy and we always worked out a time as we both worked and different shifts and about 40 mile round trip for me now use to live much closer . I guess part of it was I let him know the day I ordered (or he knew because he ordered it ) and he would always e-mail me I have a package( or I would pass on delivery tracking to help ) for you and go from there . he sold me guns ammo always at dealer cost and what ever I wanted to give him for his time and effort like I said he is a great fellow

however several years ago my youngest son got his FFL and lives about 1/2 mile away so much easier now ,

Thanks for that. Interesting information. I Just got the call from them to come pick it up from the blonde. They just opened up.

I passed a small gun shop in New Albany yesterday. They had a sign in the window, "Transfers Done Quickly $20".

Some folks are looking for business. Provide service, get them in the door. Makes since to me.

I had a local FFL that worked out of his house that received things for me. He was great to work with and we always set a time for me to stop by. I also ordered a few new guns through him. He retired and moved to Tennessee, I have to find someone else.

It is my understanding that a CCP does not do it any more. So along with the 4473, they still have to make the phone call. Not that's a big deal but not as simple as it was.

I've not had any difficulty as you describe, but I've developed a friendship with the two dealers I frequent. I'll ask for a hard copy of their FFL, tell them what I've ordered and where it's coming from, mail the FFL along with payment.

They know that I'm a geezer with decades of experience with firearms so they will occasionally call me with, "Do you have a Winchester 54" (or a Savage 40 or some other obsolete gun). "A customer brought one in and it won't do this or that." So I'll try to help trouble shoot the issue and usually we will come up with something. So it goes both ways and works good for both of us.

They called when they opened up this morning. Waiting on a UPS delivery and headed their way this afternoon.

Don't want to be a pest, but how did it turn out? Any explanation for the one day delay? Bob

    Pot meet kettle! Don

This. The dealer is not the one in need of an attitude adjustment.

Not... Picked up the firearm yesterday and owner came out of machine shop and we spoke in front of the new employee . Knowing and doing business with them for over 25 yrs a small hiccup isn't going to change anything .
