Type the words sales tax into the search box on the upper right hand of the screen and you'll find 100+ pages of threads and posts discussing sales taxes. Otherwise, here's one from yesterday.

Honestly, I'm burned out on sales tax threads. How many times does tis subject need to be discussed? Does anyone have anything new to add to the discussion? Anyone? If you have something that hasn't been said dozens of times before, let's hear it.

I enjoy paying taxes to fund the wonderful government that is protecting my liberties and remains a comforting force yet also remains so unobtrusive as to be virtually unseen.

    Is that new, Mark?

Don, if you feel its new then I wont argue the point, but I'm bored to death with threads dealing with sales taxes. Mostly because they are pointless. You'll either pay up ,or you won't complete the transaction.

I think this thread has some merit as new discussion. Gunbroker.com just felt the need to email everyone to let them know about the changes.

I hate paying taxes more than most but we knew this was coming eventually, I'm just happy GunBroker.com is doing all the work for everyone.

Here is the GunBroker.com page explaining how it will all work.

I really didn’t know there was a lot of discussion on it before. I posted it because IT IS happening now and thought it had merit. Ruffle feathers is and was not my intention. But I do think it is and will be detrimental to GB. Hell delete the whole thread won’t bother me.

I'm sure it would get refunded right along with your GB fees.

You haven't seen nothing yet, just wait for the digital dollar to come on line. You can bet when they close the gun show loop hole that every gun transfer unless a gift will be taxed in the future along with all ammo to Fund Biden's socialistic giveaways to all the reform programs for Climate change,U.N. refugees programs, welfare programs and College debt relief programs. The list will be exhaustive for all middle class workers along with fees like toll roads, and other things they can think of.

Serious questions..... So any guess how this will work for us low volume, occasional, private sellers that don't take credit cards and don't use the checkout system?

What part of that is going to have to change for us?

Or will we carry on as we have, but we'll be charged the sales tax on our account so GB can remit it on on our behalf?

oldWinchesterfan I am wondering the same, how's it going to affect the occasional seller/buyer like us.

Oldwinchesterfan and bad chris. It is explained in the article that gb will take care of paying the taxes on your behalf. They will charge you for it when they collect the selling fees. You will collect it from the buyer with whatever payment method you choose.

Thanks shootuadeal Still a little confused (no surprise there 😕).

As a seller I'd charge my state tax rate to the buyer? As a buyer I'd pay the tax rate of the seller's state? Or is the tax going to be based on my home state rate for both actions?

I think gunbroker.com will figure out the tax of the buyers state for you. When the auction is complete it will generate the "order" just like they do know but it will have the tax figured out on it so you know what the total to collect will be.

    @...: 31548061581083/comments/

Everyone whined when the internet sales tax was instituted some years ago on fleabay - saying it would really hurt or possibly destroy the 'business.'

Well, it hasn't hurt fleabay one iota from what has been observed.

It's easy/peasy ... fleabay collects the amount on the sale and remits it to the state where the purchaser lives.

I have not read how GB is going to operate but I assume it will be the same way ........ won't it?

The Supreme Court was the reason the taxes were expanded because no body was volunteering to pay under the honor system. With the Debt going to infinity and beyond they need every penny now! 😎 If the interest rates go up high enough then it's game over for U.S, Dollar anyway and no telling how The reset will play out but you can bet it will be more intrusive then it ever has been in the past with tax collecting.

Thanks very much!. I had read it several times but had not quite figured out how they were going to help us collect it. I was concerned that it would get charged to my account but I'd not be getting it from the buyers.
