Green Bananas
I bought groceries online several days ago and had them delivered to my truck. I received a bunch of six very green bananas and now after four days they are still very green and hard as a rock. I have had them in a bag for the last two days but still green and hard. Never seen anything like it. They are tagged as bananas from Guatemala, I looked close cause I thought they might be plantains or wax.

Hang them upside down, they'll ripen.

never tried it but have heard put them in a bag with a apple? I think it was and they will ripen faster , no real proof just what I heard a long time ago
I worked with a fellow who ate them green said he liked them them better that way and only bought the green ones ,to me too bitter and to solid texture I guess you could say but too each there own

Paper bag not plastic. Plastic can slow ripening. A ripe fruit or a ripe tomato added to the bag will emit ethylene gas, which will help ripen green fruit, including bananas, more quickly.

Probably didn't get a shot of gas for ripening. Will take a long time to become edible. Buy more for now.

I have seen bananas go from green to over ripe within a days time. Some never did turn too yellow but were near mush inside. This time of year bananas can be exposed to cold temps during shipping and we all know what a refrigeration does to them.
I actually suggest that you put the very green ones in the fridge, just one at a time or however many you plan to consume. They will soften and sweeten but may never yellow up.

This is most likely the problem. I worked for a refrig. company for a years and we used to work on the coolers at wholesale produce company. The coolers had big signs on them to not enter if light was on as the bananas were being gassed and the gas can poison you if you get locked in the cooler.
I was not a fan of bananas before that and I a, still not a fan.

Have had good luck extending the useful life in the winter by putting them in the unheated attached garage. Here in central CA cold enough to stop ripening without killing the fruit.

send em to Ken, if buddy doesn't want em for a chew toy, he can throw them in the lake and shoot em.......... or just put em in your bug out bag, and use em as a blackjack

BEST banana bread I have ever had. My bride and I were on Maui, doing the "Road to Hana" day trip. About halfway there, passed a sign in a lady's yard that said "Fresh Banana Bread". Housewife making a little spare change. Bananas were from her backyard- and she had just taken 6 loaves of bread out of the oven- still warm. Cruising one of the prettiest roads in the world, driving a Mustang convertible, nibbling on warm banana bread. Don't get no bettah, bra.

If you haven't tried it, I highly recommend making French Toast using fresh banana bread!
If you have a sweet tooth it will knock your socks off! 😛

There was a lady and her husband, both professional chefs, opened a small diner on the north lakefront area of Chicago. They had 4- four top tables, one booth and 10 seats at the counter. Saturday and Sunday the line went nearly 1/2 way around the block. They served the best breakfasts, their specialty.
She was a muffin lover so one of the biggest sellers was Texas size muffins made with bananas and dark chocolate chips. Everyone I took there bought extras to take home. Not me though, I can't stand bananas!
Best.

Never buy Green Bananas if you are old and especially if you are sickly.
You might die before they get ripe.
