What unit were you in?
I was there 93-98 the vending machines were gone. We had them in the 80's at Ft Lewis in 2/75 but I think they pulled them out in the late 80's when the Army was on its de-glamorization of alcohol kick. I remember the CQ would tape up the coin slot on the machines when were got alerted. The Cigerette machine would be sold out in about 20 mins though. They pulled the Cigrette machines out of the barracks in the late 80's too.
Panama was one of my favorite places I had a blast there.

Had a beer vending machine in my barracks in England..1970. It had the doo dad that you placed the can in , pushed down and it popped two holes in the top.
One day they loaded the machine with cans that had the new fangled pop tops. One of the guys got his beer from the machine...looked at the top, then put the can in the opener and punched two holes in the bottom and drank his beer.
A new guy standing next to him, reached over and pulled the pop top that was now on the bottom of the can..
A fight ensued....

I was in MEDDAC. I lived at Corozal in the first building to the right inside the gate. I worked in the clinic laboratory (92B - clinical laboratory technician) at bldg. 519 on Ft. Clayton. I also loved Panama. The last half of my tour, all civilian family were sent home, all off post soldiers were moved on post and we had PMLs due to the build-up for capturing Noriega. They sandbagged the corners in the stairwell of my building facing the gate at Corozal and had dug in machine gun positions on either side of the gate entrance. Interesting time.

I lived on both sides of Panama. I was stationed at Ft Davis and lived on Espinar. Then we moved to the Pacific side and I lived in the senior enlisted housing on Clayton. When you came through the main gate and went straight toward the drill field I lived on the left side on the hill. My unit was stationed at Howard AFB on Ft Kobe so I had to drive to FT Kobe and cross the Bridge of Americas every day. Now there are 2 Bridges and from what I have heard the ChiComs run the canal.😣
I was in the invasion and jumped in at Rio Hato. Before that we went to Panama every year to do Jungle training.
