Those tang safety 77’s are bringing big money. I bought mine in 1990 for $300, new.

Better shoot it first....The age of the rifle might indicate allot of usage...Barrell throat erosion and or worn out barrel...Just my 2cents...

Wow...........nothing that would even be on my radar. If someone offered me one for that price, I might jump tho. That auction price is crazy. Good buy for you.

A 220 swift is one of the rifles I always wanted but never have acquired. I would have bought the one you did but no way I would give 3K for one. All that said I have basically changed my mind and am thinking about a 22-250 instead.

I had 3 220 swift guns, a Ruger #1, a older 77 varmint and a newer grey SS gun with the laminate stock and target barrel.

Ricci sold all of them and I got way more than I paid but nothing like that. I could never get the #1 to shoot worth a darn but man it was pretty. The 77 was an OK shooter and the Grey gun shot pretty good.

My Favorite powder was 4064, RL-15 and 3031 were good too. I usually shot 52gr HPBT SMK bullets with 38-39 gr of 4064. All the guns seemed to like that load. BTW these were accuracy loads.

I will say this the 22 swift is a good round but I like the 22-250 better. I believe its more accurate and easier on barrels.

I am out of the 220 swift business now and down to one 22-250(a Remington 788).
