I walk my dogs along a lake shore where a plethora of Canadian Geese hang out. All I have to say is

    "Holy Guacamole!!"

Just glad I didn't step in it! 😆

    Here is my recipe;

This is the best authentic guacamole recipe I’ve tried

2- avocados (very very ripe, it makes all the difference)

    1- onion chopped

    1- tomato chopped

    2- tablespoons sour cream

    1- dash Worcestershire sauce

    1- lime

    Garlic powder (not garlic salt)

    Salt

    Pepper

    Chili powder

Minced Jalapeño peppers or Jalapeño relish

Mash avocados add lime juice and mix, mix in the sour cream, sprinkle garlic powder liberally, add chili powder ( about ½ to 1 teaspoon) pepper and salt to taste, add minced Jalapeño (about one to two tablespoons or to taste), dash of Worcestershire sauce and mix well. Then mix in the diced tomato’s

Then just eat. I’ve found that the taste develops best when you let it sit for an hour or more (if you can wait that long).

When I was stationed in Panama we had a avocado tree in the yard I made it everyday when the avocado's were ripe. This is my recipe:

3 avocados, peeled and pitted(I use a spoon and the riper the better)

1 jalapeño diced (add more or less to taste)I seed mine. I also like some green chilies from a can about 2 Tbs

1/2 cup diced red onion cut fine(Sweet onion is OK too)

    1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

1/3 cup fresh cilantro leaves, finely chopped

    1/2 teaspoon sea salt

    1/4 teaspoon ground cumin

Mix well but I like to leave it a little chunky. Some bacon in it is also good as is some chorizo.

Copied those two, and your pickled red onion post as well Sam.

    Thanks.

I like the taste of it, but avocado is extremely high in potassium (even higher than bananas) and if you have any kidney issues as I do, you simply have to avoid it.

Guacamole has to have some pico de gaio in it, in order to really shine. IMHO.

    Love the stuff.

Never had any bad Guacamole though.

Ken there is no law about putting some diced tomatoes in there. You do that and you have pico(Tomatoes, pepper, onion, lime juice and cilantro)

Have been in CA since 1993, had no idea until a few years back that guacamole and Avocado were pretty much the same thing.  My Mom still thinks it's the green stuff from the underside of a boiled lobster.

Tried it once - blech.  Bland and mushy.  Like mozzarella cheese curd.

To all...........it is pico de gallo......not pico de gaio. It translates to rooster bite................not some form of soy boy interpretation of how to spell planet gaea. check your local messican takeout and they still spell it pico de gallo. Taco bell even gets it right............lets make a better effort here.

hey mohawk600 you are correct on pico de gallo except it's more of a rooster peck than a bite...I kown tOmato/tAmoto lol, I had always heard from an old Mexican grandma that it got the name from the chop.chop.chopping that it took to make it, like a chicken pecking at something on the ground, regardless the spelling you have is correct and yes it has nothing to do with soy boys...

    Deep breaths Mohawk600, deep breaths

    It'll be okay.

My apologies Sir. I did not realize the spelling of Pico de Gallo was a trigger point.

*Just messing with you Brother. ("I am not a Soy Boy.") Bwahahahaha.............................................😆

Like some guacamole, most I don't.

What i do love, is taking ripe to overripe avocados, skinning them, smashing them up or just leave them chunky, and eating them.

    Mmnnn. Green mush.

    Chili powder🤢

Add cumin and you got yourself Tex-Mex. Not no way, not no how.

    Guac is good

Avocado is great if used at proper ripeness (like bananas)

    Chopped in cubes NOT creamed!

Cilantro just ruins anything and everything!! NAS-D

put avocado in salad eggs instead of mayo

put it in tuna fish instead of mayo

and again never EVER consume cilantro!!

I like it in slices or chunks, mussed up, not so much.

Personally, I think that Avocado by itself is pretty much like library paste or Tofu.

Some people love cilantro and anther group of people taste the herb as "soapy" like ..........it is a genetic thing. Personally, I love cilantro and it is a major component of proper pic de gallo.
