That looks like a good one! I like your choice of 270wsm too. I've only shot a couple of deer with mine but it worked great. Bob

A very nice deer, bet the turkey is happy and breathing a sigh of relief! Deer meat is much better than turkey.

Did not need to, he is not going to get any older! Don

"Except that it's a 5 point."
Those folks west of the Missouri River don't like to take off both mittens to count racks.

yes, i dont come by here much once or twice a year i guess..... last deer season i got to hunt maybe a total of an hour or so the kids got maybe a couple hours orso was just going on corn harvest this time last year we was fighting weather all year...the deer dont stick around my place once the winter weather gets here...there are much nicer areas for them to winter....i did get a 183" score 9x6 spot and stalk white tail archery in a corn field of mine theyear before last.
last year we shot no deer.
the buck i got this year best i can tell is a 5 1/2 year old a mature buck for sure probably one of the heaviest body weight ones i've shot
and yes out in this country if points are the same amount on each side such as this we just call it a 5 point if not such as my archery buck was a 9X6

I was actually in the tree stand deer hunting the other day and thought about all the nice bucks you have posted pictures of. I know you and family only shoot mature bucks and had not seen any posts for quite some time. Great buck as usual. Congrats, Don

we didn't used to have big deer like this back when i was a kid...it was mostly grassland and a lot more hunting pressure here back then now majority of land here is cropland... years ago when this was wheat country and sunflowers got to be a big crop here deer racks got bigger but now its mostly soybeans and corn and less hunting pressure our deer have gotten significantly bigger.... i attribute it to soybeans as they are high in calcium
edit several years ago before game cams it was after rifle season...i was closing gates and fixing fence on a 1/4 of corn stalks to turn cattle into to graze anyways i could see a buck and doe at the far end and half mile away and you didnt need binocs to see it was a huge buck our bow season was still on and had my bow in pickup so did a stalk hunt on it it was a long crawl on hands and knees i did manage to get aprox 60 yards from him he had a big drop tine and i'll guarantee he was a 200" buck anyways i was getting set to shoot and the doe with him decided she didnt like me there stuck her tail up and run back to a shelterbelt of mine about a mile away....that was the first and only time i ever seen that buck have no idea where he come from....think maybe he got pushed out of the river breaks as my place cross country isnt to far from the missouri river

When we moved here 30 years ago, there were always several booners in this area. First buck I killed on my property was a 262 field dressed 10 point. The MDNR opened up the doe slaughter around 2005, and the big boys just disappeared. Best one we've had on camera over the last few years was around a 160".
Funny thing, I have hunted since 14 years old, and have never harvested a six point. This year I got two, one the last day of bow season, the one this morning that actually should have been a seven, but one brow was busted off.
