The worlds greatest fighting pistol

Based on some responses to the post about .22 Hornet for deer and the idiocy defending the caliber for deer........

I am going to reply here by saying............. a .22 derringer loaded with .22 shorts or CBs......two shots. Hell...........you can practically put it anywhere..........pocket, prison purse, behind the ear. I would venture to guess that more people have been killed by .22 than any other caliber so it must be a man-stopper. My vote for greatest fighting pistol.

Some of ya'll old timers might have killed whole villages of redskins deader than a door nail with your cap guns though........I don't know.

If Creepy becomes President and limits us to one handgun -- Glock 19 may be the ideal choice.

I like my 19 and my 17's and my 29 but there is always a G43 within reach.

    Always!

    Rule number 1:

    Don’t shoot yourself.

    Rule number 2:

Don’t try to shoot through the windshield.

    Rule number 3:

Wear safety glasses because it might ka-boom.

No offense, but the OP might rethink the red dot on the Glock. At least make it easily removable, so that the sights can be used in case of emergency. Reason I'm saying this is because I dropped a Ruger 22/45 with a Burris red dot, with the expected results. Probably the Trijicon would be more durable than the Burris. But I would still want some sort of a back-up, in case it got broke due to dropping or rough handling.

A revolver will always be my go to gun because I can shoot them a whole lot better then a semi plus my hands are getting enough arthritis in them it is getting harder for me to rack a slide. Right now my carry gun is a 325NG

from what I have read old POS uncle Joe's "new" old hash big ears and Clinton rules they studied and went back and dotted there I's and crossed the t's so loop holes or way around the rules the gun laws will include any firearm capable of holding a magazine will be banned period

no 10 round magazine blocks no limited 10 round mags if the firearm takes a magazine there is always the chance some will /can load a magazine of more than 10 rounds into it so no go outlawing them all

Sorry- did someone call for the World's Greatest Fighting Pistol?

You mean the S&W Model 66? AKA the COMBAT Magnum?

And yes a revolver was originally called a "revolving pistol" by Sam Colt & Co.

My opinion is pretty much the same except for mine will be a Glock 17. I said will be because I ordered an MOS 17 months ago but it has yet to come in. I have a Trijicon sitting here waiting for the 17 to come in.

chme, no argument from me. Mine is a Smith 19 that was my first centerfire handgun.

My thoughts: (like anyone cares 😁 ) Revolver when your butt is on the line!! The Glock when you are thinking of trying to shoot a match. When your butt is on the line, 1st choice, shotgun, 2nd choice rifle, either an AR or a 30-30 lever action, 3rd choice, handgun. But if I have to go with a handgun 100% revolver all the way for me.

So far I've only had to fight with cardboard and steel targets and I pray to God almighty that I never have to take it any further than that. That said, if it does go farther it'll probably be done with a Glock 35 or a 23.

That just might be my all time favorite hand gun in my humble little collection

I carried the Model 66 (no dash) 4" for 20 years. Bought one after I retired. I also have the Model 19 Combat Masterpiece. But it is to pretty to carry everyday,

Now a days I like the SS Kimber 1911 in .45 acp.

I don't have any of the classics but I have 3 G19s, some other single stack 9s for concealed carry, and an SP101 with crimson trace grips. Hope I'm covered.

C&R - CZ-82 9x18 makarov 12rd mag ... I have 4 for ccw. Always go bang - no complaints ! Feels great in my hand, too.

All 4 guns /10 mags loaded with Hornady Critical Defense ammo.

    9x18 uses .366 diam. bullets ! 😀

Fighting pistol? Although I've never owned an example, I'll wager that the Colt SAA has killed more people- good and bad, than any other sidearm.

This kinda started out like a Wallie post.

I expected 99.9% of us weren't going to guess what pistol it was.

As much as I like my 38 airweight it is not what I would carry as my primary "fighting pistol" in a war zone. Then again my pistol wouldn't be my primary "fighting weapon" either. I'll agree that the posted weapon would be good for the stated purpose.

And I imagine swords have killed more people than all handguns combined. Volume alone doesn’t mean it is the best tool for the job.

I had considered the 1911, but felt that since the SAA saw extensive use by the US cavalry during the "Indian Wars" and beyond, the old Colt probably killed more people than the 1911. It would be interesting to see some hard numbers.
