I'm starting the evening with Redemption Rye:

This is their so called pre-prohibition recipe; which I find tastes far too much like bourbon, and not enough like rye. They don't list the mash bill on this particular whisky, but Redemption has another blend which is 95% rye and is far better...IMO.

118 proof 😮 Don't fire up that cigar too close to that glass. You might lose your eyebrows.

Mark it’s an absolute stellar Rye. Their bourbon is fantastic too. Their bourbon was a double gold medal winner this year at the SF World Spirits competition. They have a port barrel finished that’s amazing. Their rack house is over here in Eastern Washington so it gets all four seasons for aging.

They also make a great real maple syrup that’s aged in a bourbon barrel

Interesting! We just got that in our warehouse about 6 months ago. It's been selling really well in our smaller market, the last month. Good to hear an honest review, as it has all been word of mouth otherwise.

Dang Mark, you might have more money tied up in whiskys than I have in Rover parts. That's no small accomplishment!

Anyone tried Amarula? My South African neighbor turned me onto it. It's creamy like Bailey's but so smooth it makes Bailey's taste like antifreeze.

Thats a neat little distillery and I go there. Good stuff. Lots of wine and booze in that area of Wa.

I must have got a bad bottle or bad batch of that Woodinville Bourbon then. I bought a bottle 4-5 years ago. Nasty harsh biting stuff it was. I have stayed away from it since.

Hey Nanuq - Yes my wife likes Amarula. Have a bottle in the fridge now. She got introduced to it over in S Africa. The guide told her the monkeys and elephants get drunked up eating the fruit after it ferments. Not sure if it ferments before it falls off the tree or after. I prefer it to Bailey’s .

To paraphrase Earnest and Julio Gallo:

I will drink no wine before it’s 9:00.

    7:54? Close enough.
