What is your favorite Thanksgiving pie ?
Mine is Pecan
-
Peekin Pie made with fresh quality peekins. Lotsa nuts with just enough syurp to hold it all together.
And a glass of ice cold milk.
And then again there is the Alaskan/Canadian favorite - Blueberry.
Heated, with a generous scoop of Haagen Dazs vanilla ice cream.
'Scuse me, I gotta go check the fridge for something.

buttermilk pie, sorta tastes like the filling of a pecan pie without the pecans......... haven't had a good one since my mom passed
3 -
pecan or apple either one is fine with me, or both.
3 -
Pecan with topping followed closely by our local meat pie, from possum shank and squirrel leg meat.

Just PIE!!!

My problem is trying to limit the number of pies I make for Thanksgiving. I love most of them with the only limitation being that I'm allergic to nuts so no pecan pie for me, nothing with walnuts or peanut butter.
Historic favorites:
Buttermilk pie
Dutch Apple pie
Mincemeat pie
Cherry pie
Any cobbler with Grandma's crust...
For my brother who makes the very best coffee in the world, I make a traditional southern Pecan pie just for him.
Best.

I've never met a pie that I didn't love. And I have diabetes to prove it. But for Thanksgiving we always have Pumpkin pie with a little whipped cream on top. ๐

I waffle between Pumpkin and Apple. They both have to be done right to be good.

My wife makes a kick butt Dutch Apple Pie that I like best. Always makes it in September during fresh apple season.
For Thanksgiving, I like homemade Pumpkin with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. I said homemade because just about every store bought pumpkin I have ever sampled tastes like the makers were experimenting with a spice rack! YUK.
My grandfather on moms side always enjoyed Lemon Meringue pie best and mom always made him one for his birthday. If I could ever get one of moms L|M pies I'd be in heaven! Actually, that is where I would have to go to get one!

I remember fifty years ago while in the Air Force, eating pumpkin pie with sliced carrots in it. I asked a Mess Sgt. what the skinny was and he told me that they try not to waste food. So if they have left over sliced carrots from a meal at the time they made pumpkin pies, they added sliced carrots. He asked me if it taste any different, and I said no.

Where in the hell can a person get a gooseberry pie? When I was a kid I found enough for a cobbler in the wild but it was tough. Love those tart, hint of sweet pies!

I like peach pie, and I'm surprised it doesn't end up higher on the list.

I recently had a craving for some peach pie and bought a couple cans of peach filling at the grocery.
I really wish I would have taken the time to read the ingredience on the labels of those cans! Packed full of high fructose corn syrup in a gelatinous glob of what looked like mumified peaches! ๐ซ Crap was so darn sweet when I sampled a dab with a finger test, I quickly lost interest in eating them.
I do like peach pie very much but it must be homemade using fresh peaches!

I had a great uncle who owned fruit orchards in southern Illinois for decades. Twice year he would bring my grandmother bushels of apples and peaches when they were ripe and ready to eat. Her daughters and daughters-in-law would swarm all over the house getting ready to process all the fruit into jars. The best part was at the end when we got to enjoy the cobblers and fresh applesauce. The cobblers and peach pie were extra special because it was always served with fresh cream or real homemade ice cream!
Best.
