proper in/lbs torque model 70 Winchester
I have a Winchester model 70 push feed blind magazine and was wondering what the correct in/lbs torque is on the stock and guard screws. Any info always appreciated.

Found this at another forum so can't vouch for it's accuracy;
"If you are using wood stocks you must be careful not to crush the wood or about 25 inch pounds.
If you are using a wood stock that has the action bedded 35 inch pounds max.
If you are using a wood stock with pillar bedding 45 inch pounds max."

Thanks for the info from neoblackdog and toad67 I will try the 25 in/lbs with a fatwrench on the Winchester and see how it does versus hand tight by feel.

What do you mean by 'SEE HOW IT DOES"?????????????
If you are referring to how it shoots groups by varying the torque of the action screws the action needs to be properly glass bedded. (and the barrel floated)
If the inletting is good and the barrel floated or the action properly bedded you can just go by feel when tightening the action screws.
On the BDL type or floorplate type win 70's just get the center screw slightly snug
If the wood is not spongy just forget about torque, go by feel.

By see how it does I mean to see if the torque wrench is tighter or looser than my hand tighten job nothing to do with groups as this rifle has always been very accurate and this rifle is not a floorplate like I said in my original post. My post was just a curious question on torqueing screws.
