You recovered it. Must have done the job. Great, thanks for sharing.

I am surprised it didn't bounce off. The 270 is a woefully under powered cartridge for deer.๐

I'm surprised anyone could hit anything as small as a deer with a .270. It must have been very very close.

Seriously, Iโve tried to come up with a load that would equal to the standard Remington Core Lokts. I have recovered Remington bullets from deer that were perfectly mushroomed. I could never get Nosler Ballistic tips to perform, although they were very accurate at longer ranges.
After working with seating bullets off the lands, the Speer Grand Slams worked the best.
While the bullet and gun performed admirably at 210 yards, Iโm not confident they would do so at longer ranges.

As underpowered as it is I have always thought 130 grain bullets are perfect for the .270.

Ive shot numerous deer with a 270 and have to agree its barely adequate for the job. Problem is that when shot the deer just fall down and die right there. My friends have 30-06, 7mm mouser and 257 Roberts and when they shoot deer they walk 100 to 200 yds closer to the truck before falling. I'll have to get one of those.

.270 plus 130 gr grand slam, properly placed = any 4 legged beast between the Atlantic and Pacific ocean will be DRT.
