By all means! I just looked at one of my Maglite's and found that a battery was leaking. What a mess. I cleaned it up, but had I changed the batteries, as I should have done, this would not have happened.

And backup battery pack for your phone. And ear phones.
I have been known to watch old John Wayne westerns on YouTube while sitting in my blind until the battery ....goes....dead!

Those folding solar panels like from Goal Zero are great. You can run a small device on them without ever draining the internal battery, or charge up an auxiliary battery for a hot swap. Mine has USB as well as 12v outlets. Handy little thing for my annual houseboat fishing trip.
