Went Shooting Sunday

Took a friend of mine shooting. All he has is a Ruger 9mm and had never shot a 357 or 44 magnum. I had a bunch of old 357 store bought ammo from 20-30 years old(One box of 50 was priced at $10.45)

So I brought several guns in each caliber. For the 357 I had the following: Ruger SP101 3", S&W 586 6", S&W M19 4" and a 6" and a Ruger BH 6.5". For the 44 Mag I had: Ruger Redhawk stainless 5.5", S&W 629 Mountain revolver 4", S&W M29-2 one in 4" and the other a 6" both blue, a Ruger SBH 4 5/8" old model gun and a 8" Dan Wesson.

I loaded up about 300 rounds of 44 mag in 3 different powers one was a bit more than 44 spl the 2nd was med warm and the 3rd was full house all loaded with 240gr KT hard cast and a gas check. Like I said the 357 was store bought and I had about 200 rds of 38 spl I hand loaded with berrys bullets.

I also brought a 1911 and an H&K USP45 to shoot with about 200 rds of Blazer 230gr Ball.

My friend is from South Africa and left there in the mid 90's. He was in the army in the 80's so is familiar with guns. We went to the range I belong to and they have a bunch of steel tgts to shoot and that is all we shot at.

We had a great time and he turned out to be a fairly good shot.

The Ruger SBH 44mag 4 5/8" gun was too much with full house loads. I think its going to get sold.

I have a new love for the Ruger Redhawk. I shot it really good. I put a new fiber optic front sight on it and it was the only gun except the 8" DW that I could really see the front sight on. It soaked up the recoil and really shot well. I let him pick any gun and took him on at the dueling tree. I kicked his butt with mid range loads in the Redhawk against his favorite gun of the bunch.

Guess which gun he liked and shot the best?
