CT barrel regulations on others
So I'm aware that you cannot have barrel on an other thats less than 12.5" with a gun minimum length of 26" at its smallest size. Is an AR platform still considered to be legal if you fix say a 8.5" or 10.5" barrel to the gun and then attach a flash can or suppressor and have it pinned or welded to the gun making the barrel length now at 12.5" or longer to meet ATF regulations? I'm looking into doing a 556 or 300BO build and would love to know the standings on this. Any help would be great!

If I understand your question (and THAT is doubtful) you have something that is not a rifle (no stock). That can be any barrel length that floats your boat- so long as the OVERALL length is 26. Under 26, no stock, it is a handgun. Adding a suppressor or flash hider/ muzzle brake only counts as a permanent change of length if welded. brazed or blind pinned and pin welded in place. I think. If there is a shoulder stock, 16 inch bbl (which CAN be met with the above PERMANENT extensions), overall in firing configuration must be 26 inches or more. 0 -
Your questions were too wide open to easily answer. You may need to get more specific. But, first, do some research, here & with your local Class III dealer (who may already stock what you are looking for). At the top, right of this page note the SEARCH box, & look up older forum conversations; start off with "suppressor", & you should find a lot.
You probably won't want to pin a "can" to your barrel, as most folks find it best to remove & disassemble them periodically for cleaning.Look up the speed of sound; then, research ammo in the caliber you want, as any round that exceeds that will produce a sonic boom that will defeat the purpose of a can. But, a bullet that's too slow may not work the action of a semi-auto firearm; think of everything as a "package". Have fun & be safe.Neal
