Because when on a menu with any other items, the hot dogs never sell. One can conclude that while many people like hot dogs, they do not prefer them.

We have a Hotdog joint here in Raleigh called Snoopy's.  I go every once in a while, the dogs are good.

Back about a couple years ago when Burger King had grilled hot dogs for (I believe 50 cents) I'd pull in and get 6 for $3. Hell of a deal. Hardees still carries them, but they are like $1.75ish

*Those Sonic dogs look good. Closest one is at least an hour away.

I have not hit any fast food (except Arby's a couple times returning from medical appts.) For 6-8 months.

I may be a Heathen, but I really miss the gas station/convenience store roller dogs. The more well done the better. Sauerkraut or chili or mustard and onion. $1 a piece.

Had em' all over up N. Very rarely see em' around here.

    Flame on.

My guess is that because hot dogs are so quick and easy to prepare at home: 45 seconds in a microwave, a bit of mustard and some relish and you're snacking on a hot dog. It may not be great, but it's quick. Hamburgers require more time and effort (and condiments) to prepare at home, so most people enjoy eating them when they go out for lunch.

Good lord Mark, the first period in 2100 posts and you saw it right here.

Mark, seriously? Microwaved? Almost as bad as boiled. (Unless off a food truck.)

Hot dog preperations have sunk to a new low here on GB.

At the very least, a tab of butter and pan fried, while rolling them around to get evenly browned. Takes maybe 2-3 minutes. Really, you need it in 45 seconds?

I plan on making either dogs, pan fried in butter, or Kielbasa in a cast iron skillet and baked, here shortly. Warmed Sauerkraut for the dogs, Sauerkraut in with the Kielbasa in the cast iron skillet, if baked.

Headed out to get some fresh hot dog buns here in a minute, cause that's how I roll. (Get it?)

I feel the same way about ordering spaghetti when I eat out.  If you can boil water and :)mind a clock, you can cook good spaghetti!     Italian restaurants in general are not my favored eating out establishments.  I married a Sicilian for Pete's sake!  :)

Ha I married a Sicilian too and going to a Italian place is sort of silly since all she makes is pasta and some kinda meat and sauce. When we first married it took me a little while to call her on it was ALL PASTA AND SAUCE even if the pasta had a different name and shape!

Brookwood, good meat sauce takes a little while to prepare. (Hour or two at the least) Longer the better, (overnight the best) with various fresh diced veggies, garlic added in.

If your using Ragu, Prego, Classico etc, (except as a starting base) to proceed with, you aint eating good spaghetti.

Classico as a starting base is my favorite, and very good. Lots of good fresh stuff added in.

I have a bunch of inexpensive sauce, Hunts (2 for $1) Prego, Ragu & a ton of pasta in my SHTF stash. Figure I will be happy to have it.

*Sorry Brother, I see you married a Sicilian, I am not telling you anything about Pasta you do not already know.

Ken, my favorite toppings for spaghetti are actually quite simple.

The first is just finely sliced thin fresh cloves of garlic (about 10 cloves) fried golden brown in a pan with the bottom filled in EVO. When the garlic is just about done, about a 1\4 cup of fresh parsley is added.  Quickly removed from heat and poured over a pound of cooked spaghetti.  Topped with grated at the table aged parmesan cheese.

The next is just plain broccoli cooked in the water until tender and used to also cook the spaghetti.  Drained together and the same cheese grated on top on your plate!  Simple but oh so tasty!

Trade you sight unseen. My wife is from Honduras & I don't like that kind of food.

84, I wonder how long the dogs have been rolling on the cookers.
I did see the store clerk dump what was on the cooker one day.

Sonic has all the kinds of dogs and I find them really good. They sell the hell out of them around here.

There are several hot dog “palaces” in N.C. that have been in business for 50 years or more . They must be doing something right . Check out Paul’s place near Wilmington . In business since 1928

When I rotated thru to the midnight shift, I would first go to the 7-11 for coffee & the clerk would know to leave a few on the rollers until they got gnarly. Mustard, cooked onions & jalapenos.

My wife is from Russia, and I wouldn't trade with either of you! :)(I had to teach her how to cook what I like, and she is a very good cook.
