Is a hotdog a sandwich?

    Not unless it is sliced and put between 2 slices of bread.

    A hot dog bun is not a slice of bread. No, a hot dog is not a sandwich.

    A hot dog is a type of sausage. Put a sausage in a roll (with onions & peppers of course) & its called a sandwich.
    Now, is a hamburger a sandwich?

    Growing up we had wonder bread and homemade. It was a hamburger bun and a hot dog bun.

    A hotdog is not a sandwich.  Put in in a hotdog bun, it is a sandwich.

    The B&B Café in Castle Rock CO was famous for their open faced roast beef sandwich, hanging off both sides of the plate, brown gravy and homemade mashed taters.

    As originally eaten by the Earl of Sandwich, the eponymous food consists of meat wrapped in bread. The ancient Earl used bread to pick up meat in order to keep his fingers cleaner. The fad certainly caught on.

    Bratwurst and Kielbasa dogs. Mmnnn...................Mmnnn...............

    Usually had slopeside at whatever ski resort, I happened to be skiing at. Man does that bring back memories.

    I can just about smell those Country Fair brats and polish sausages sold from a trailer, fried up on a griddle along with those buttery fried onions, peppers, and mushrooms!  

    Got myself drooling on the keyboard!   :p

    Hot dog on a "bun" is a hot dog.
    Hotdog sliced on toast is a sammich. Akin to a blonie sammich
    Hamburger on a bun is a hamburger.
    Hamburger on toast is a sammich.

    As I said above, if it is meat wrapped in bread and intended to be hand-held while eaten, it is a sandwich.
