You will like this rifle very much. Quality firearm and you'll be surprised at how well it groups with the right load. 300 WSM is a great round. Enjoy it and may you harvest many animals with it. 3 -

OK guys I got it and shot it just three times because it doesn't fit me.
first shot was in the bull's eye and the next two shots were low and right just outside bull's eye but touching one another
It has a stock that is 3 inches too short for me does someone make a thicker recoil pad or spacers and a recoil pad for it?
I will be researching my self
I usually put a Limbsaver recoil pad on most of my long guns

Some time back I bought IIRC 54 boxes of 300 wsm ammo here on GB. I bought it from a guy that was selling out some stuff. With shipping included I ended up with a cost of 14 dollars a box in it. Most of it is 180 grain blue box Federal and Winchester 180 grain power points. But the lot also contained 14 boxes of 180 grain Federal Premium solid copper ammo that retailed for $50 a box. With the 300wsm ammo I already had I'll hunt my lifetime without needing to buy more 300 wsm ammo.
I often look for deals like this on GB and have found them in .243 win and 454 casull. I have a lifetime supply of the .243 now because of this.
I have a Tikka T3 lite stainless rifle and bought (from Zink) a Browning A-bolt rifle for my son both in 300 wsm. We like the cartridge.

3 inches sounds like an awful lot! I am blessed because most standard length stocks fit me. Browning used to make spacers to fit under the pad but a quick internet search proved fruitless. Midway used to carry them but the site says discontinued. Perhaps if you give Browning a call they can help you out. In the meantime you could use one of the pull on recoil pads over your existing pad. I believe limbsaver still makes one. Sounds like it should prove to be a good shooter from your range report. Bob

I saw that too. But I think what he needs are flat spacers to go between his existing pad and the pad adapter that the short trac stocks come with. It sounds like he needs to add more length than just a slightly thicker pad. Maybe you are right and I am just reading to much into his 3 inches to short comment. Bob

no sir it is three inches shorter than my Savage 110 with a limb-saver recoil pad
I have adjusted the scope as far forward as I can unless I get another base(rail type)

the guy I bought it from said he was only 5' 5" I believe it
the scope was so close before I moved it forward I would have got a black eye shooting it
I am not sure if this is a youth stock or not
are most Browning Bar's this short?

The BAR .338 WM I had in Alaska was accurate, easy to shoot and the most important thing, reliable. I hope you find the same in yours.

Wow that is a a big difference. The length of pull for the Browning should be 13.25 inches and the Savage about a half inch longer as they come from the factory. Browning has made some short stock versions of their guns over the years but I don't recall if they ever made a shorter BAR Shorttrac. The thickest pads I know of won't even get you close to the same lop as the Savage. Bob

I would do as has been suggested and put a slip on pad on it and see where I'm at. If you still need more put a couple of the shape to fit plastic spacers in and then the slip on pad.

2 and 1/2 inches might be enough
I know I don't like the way it feels right now

This may be a option
NECG RIFLE SPACER | Brownells
Traditional, black, hard rubber buttstock spacers add length to any rifle or shotgun stock. Grinds beautifully and takes a nice polish without a ...You might be able to stack a couple of the 1/2 inch ones together

Another option may be something like this I've mainly seen used on shotguns but may work on a rifle
SPS Adjustable LOP Recoil Suppressor Butt Plate Assembly
SPS Adjustable Length Of Pull Recoil Suppressor Butt Plate Assembly 3 part adjustable Length Of Pull, compression butt plate with an adjustable pad plate GC15LPhttps://graco-corp.com/product-category/adjustable-butt-plate/

I hope that takes care of it for you. If it doesn't you could have a stock made to fit you.

A little redneck engineering.
Filch a couple wooden spools from the old lady's sewing kit.
Remove the pad, then using the spools as spacers, re-install the pad with 2 long screws.
Go shoot it (not on a public range!).

I did put a limb-saver slip-on recoil pad on it
it helps the feel of shouldering the rifle
have not shot it since installing pad though
