Rob- the semis started at Model 152 with the fold-down forearm, bolt action is a 142.  Yeah, I've got a few Mossbergs around here.
Ricci nice looking rifle.  Have a 144 LSB that will give a $2K bench rest gun a run for the money.  Mossberg made some really good rifles back then.

I will post a pic of mine. It now has a cheap bushnell 4x on it. I still have the the original irons and scope and rings . Sadly the original scope is very cloudy. I own many 22lr rifles but this is one I will never part with.

shoots like a dream. A sweet little machine, a shining example of 1940's craftsmanship.

Ricci- stuck a link to your auction on the Mossberg board over at Rimfire Central.  That one should go to someone that really appreciates Mossies.

I wish I was in a position to bid. I would be a player on that. Beautiful older rifle & scope combo.

I have a Marlin mdl 81DL (from the 40's) from my Dad's collection. Somewhat similar, but with high end front and rear peep sight set up.

That should do very well I would think. (Excellent pictures by the way.)

    Nice rifle Ricci!

I didn't know they made them without iron sights only the scope for sighting.

I think it came with irons but they are long gone.

You can still buy those little red and green buttons! I just redid a Mossberg 16 gauge bolt action and purchased replacements.

havlinsales dot com has the red/green pegs.  And a LOT of other things for older 22 rifles.  Victor and Cheryl Havlin run the Mossberg Collector Association- and are real nice folks to deal with.

My Grandpa gave me a 241when I was a kid and I have not shot it in years. I need to change that.

I really need a mossberg rimfire in the safe. That's a fine example and should do well.
But, when my budget allows, I have to go with Remingtons from that era. Don't get me wrong, my savage model 4s have plastic trigger guards, and I still love them, but the only thing on my 40s Remmies that even resembles plastic, is the butt plate.
