Probably politics. Trump on stage with a black justice and a new woman justice. Just trying to get a few more votes by showing he supports women and minorities. Bob

Edit - Turns out there are two different oaths. One constitutional and one judicial. Thomas performed the constitutional Monday and Roberts will do the judicial tuesday.
