Somone is running some kind of bot
Every time I bid on an sks it has that red message that someone else has a higher bid than me. It's like a bot or something.

Bid higher and it will go away.

If an item is worth around $2,000 with an opening bid of $500 and I am first to bid on it and I place a bid for $1,800 -
The item will not automatically show my max bid, it will show the opening bid on of $500.
When other guys come along and bid 800, $1,000, and 1,200 etc the system will keep me out in front because my max bid is the highest.
If the item ended up selling for $1,600 as the highest amount - Thats what it would cost me, not the $1800 I was willing to pay. If it went for $1,810- I would lose the auction because it surpassed my max bid.

You really, really want to read all the rules before you attempt to buy anything on this site. Go to the Gunbroker home page, & scroll down to BUYERS/NEW BUYERS/BUYERS OVERVIEW & read everything you find there.Neal

Yeah, us poor folk get used to seeing that.
Before long you'll hardly even notice it!

its your wife over your shoulder cancelling your bids........ 6 -
Like they have explained, a person who enters a high bid....it will only keep them the high bidder as long as someone doesn't bid higher than them, so the bids only jump up as bids are placed to keep them the high bidder until the limit they entered is beat.
The other thing you might not be aware of is the 15 minute rule. When an auction is about to end....if someone bids it will add some time to the end to give everyone interested a chance to jump in and put in a bid. So, if you are bidding on something and see time is added to the auction, its the GB system doing it....not the seller. The seller cannot change anything about the auction once it has bids.0 -
Look up how proxy bidding works, that is how it works on Gunbroker, great system, that is what is happening.
