Marlin or Marlin-Glenfield ?

I have a Narlin Model 60 serial 144377xx.I used to have one that was made by Marlin-Glenfield. Is one or the other indicative of the age of the rifle.  Are Glenfield, Marlin and Marlin-Glenfield Model 60s all from different eras?

  thanks. I did read the wiki reference. still not sure if i understand the difference between Marlin and Glenfield but I did figure out appx date of mfg of my rifle.

  FWIW, Glenfield was the Chevy to Marlin's Oldsmobile.  Where Sears used JC Higgins, Western Auto used Revelation, Glenfield was a cheaper line that Marlin could sell to the local hardware stores.  Birch instead of walnut.  No white spacer on the buttstock, no Marlin bullseye in the stock, no gold plated trigger. But still very well made rifles.
