First goose hunt...
Opening day for geese up here in New York State on the Vermont border. My two hunting buddies are old hands. One owns a small saw mill and the other is a retired cabinet maker and boat builder from Cape Cod. Needless to say their stands are things of beauty. I learned a lot...many geese ignore calling as if they have a place they had to be. I also learned how to read them if they are going to come into your decoys,

Nice - went a week ago Friday. Beautiful bluebird day, so we had a lot that passed right over. Almost got our limit though. Here’s what it looked liked before the ducks came by ahead of the geese.
Had a few deer out at the corner of the standing corn.

do you guys use flags as attractants? i found them very valuable to getting the geese to notice and come to investigate the movement. 0 -
Yes, used a flag to get them to look In hopes of them seeing the decoys.

plenty of times a flag was all we used when the geese became call shy 0 -
Great outing. My BIL took me out a few times when I was young, which has made for some special memories. 0
