California is not an issue for true antiques. New Jersey is a problem state.

In Illinois there is a three day waiting period for black powder firearms, there never use to be. I would check before sending to private individual first. Antiques I’m not positive, if sent through FFL. there is no problem.

The 5 boroughs of NY City require any firearm, even antique or modern black powder, be shipped through an FFL. The rest of the state is fine to ship directly to the buyer.

Thanks folks. Any problem using USPS to ship antique firearms?

No offense meant to the the employes of the USPS. But most I have run into,  wouldn't know a antique pistol from a pimple on their rectum.  Don't believe there is any legal requirement for you notifying them? Because of this I wouldn't tell them anything, regarding you shipping a antique pistol.

If you ship USPS there is a limit to what they will insure. Even if you buy full insurance to cover the value of the gun, USPS has a limit to what they will pay.

Shipping USPS Registered Mail on expensive items is an option.
