gonna like these Hornady SST's.......

I have an old 8mm mauser my great uncle sporterized after dad brought it back from the war, or so I was allways told, either way uncle fred did chop it up some, took about inch and half off the end of barrell, just enough to do away with the bayonet lug. It has never been super accurate maybe baseball size groups at 100 yards enough to kill a deer, just never good grouping on paper, I have tried 180gr, round and spier points and round 170, they tended to jam, last few years have used 220gr spiers but over 100 yard they drop to much to trust. orderd the hornady SST's in 170 grains this year because it was all I could find instock under the current conditions with virus panic.

loaded up 37 of them the other day, all the empty brass I had, and finally got out to shoot them this morning at 50 yards cloverleafed the first 3 about inch and half high. this rifle has never shot this tight with any factory or any of my reloads, I am impressed. so I will have no excuses this year can't wait to see that first nice buck to see how they perform as I know the accuracy is there........

    I load quite a few of the SST's, shoot good, and perform well too...

    Tried some about 5 yrs ago . Instant drt on deer . Shot like the old Nosler ballistic tips did when I first started using them 35 years ago . Over the years they apparently changed the formula and they , noslers , no longer worked as well . But I do like the SST’s Factory loads shot so well I haven’t even attempted to handload . Hard to beat 3/4 to 2 inch groups for factory ammo
