In need of a Fall Report

Last night, here in SW Virginia the leaves made a drastic change in colors.  A friend and I are chomping at the bit to get out and make some photos.  We do sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway every year as well as many other attractions.  Usually, we try to go north of Wythe county early in the fall then follow the leaf changes southward - but it is all a guess. 
I have been planning to visit Matewan, WV for some time and would like get a report from up that way. 
Reports from other areas are welcome as well.  Esp Central Virginia, Western NC and Eastern TN.

    I am amazed at the early transformation. Leaves are falling all around here in SW Virginia. My maple trees are still green, though.

    we have already had snow.  It helped greatly with fighting the fires.  Send more,a new fire broke out tonight.

    Looked like my barn was on fire this morning, but it was just the sun cooking the moisture off the roof.

    Walnut trees toward the left are 1/2 down. Maples, to the right are just getting color.

    It's going to be 105 on 10/1, here in the dust bowl. The only thing hitting the ground, is just the residents passing out from the heat.

    Not much color here yet BK. Started to show some color a couple weeks ago, (I was posting about Maple leaves dropping already.) Got a lot of rain recently (last couple weeks) that does bode well for a colorful fall. You can tell it is coming on, but it has not popped yet.

    Severe to Extreme drought here. Trees too stressed to do anything but go brown and shed.

    Went to western NC last weekend mostly green plan on going again on the 8th should be good especially around Mt. Mitchell and Graveyard Fields

    Speedwell !  Not to be confused with Dugspur!  :}  Great photo!
    Good friend has a cabin over in Volney- we used to take our wives and kids there for Thanksgiving, guys would hunt while the ladies cooked.  Good times for sure.

    Leaves turning quick near the Banner Elk area. Lots of color showing. Early fall on the way.
