You might want them to put a ring in it while you are there ;)

Good luck and i hope it works.

Buddy already leads me around like i have a ring in my Snout.

Totally spoiled dog. "I wanna go out front, now I wanna go out back. Now I wanna go back out front." I humor and indulge him, because he is such a good dog. (And) If He is letting me know he needs to go out. It's all good.

Takes over the bed at night, totally pressed up against me. I usually end up with about a foot and a half, while he has the rest of the bed, sprawled out. Has to be touching me though. I gotta say, I sleep better when I can reach out and put my hand on him, and feel his presence.

    My Bud.

It’s tough surgery Ken, but was worth it for me way back in the day. The docs did that and a bunch more at the same time on me. Made a big difference once I got healed up.

Thanks Chris. While not looking forward to having my nose re-broken during Surgery, I am very much looking forward to getting some relief and breathing. Surgeon said "You will feel a night and day difference."

Read a recent article that said you breath 70% through your nose. (Not me.)

Good luck Ken, I hope they get you fixed up. I might have to go through the same thing. Hoping mine is just allergies, but I have a feeling it's more than that.

I knew a guy who was a boxer in the Air Force and then later on was a beautician for mostly rich old ladies. He started having breathing issues and was treating them as allergies.  When he finally went to the VA they found he had polyps in his sinuses. Hr figured it was from the boxing the all the sprays and particulates he worked with. The Drs. at first went in with a kind of snare device and removed some but finally had to perform surgery. It was tough for him at first but he was glad he had it done.

Any questions Ken, you can give me a call. I can tell ya, once healed up, my sleep apnea/snoring was about gone. I was back to running 8-10 miles a day without feeling like I was dying. I slept 100 times better, etc.

My main concern is sleeping at night. I currently get anxiety attacks and feelings of Claustraphobia. Can not wear my Bpap at all.

I can not get any sleep meds prescribed because of the triple whammy. Sleep Apnea, Heart Issues/surgery and breathing issues related to my nose. Asking for Ambien, they look at you like you have asked for some Crack.

I had it done about 12 years ago and it was worth every bit of the temporary discomfort.  The right side had been crushed almost shut over the years due to numerous nose-to-object incidents (long stories!) the last of which was a very impressive jet-ski wreck.   All my sinus cavities were full of infection and polyps to the point that they were starting to grow back down my throat.   I snored like a freight train and my poor wife could hardly sleep.   After the surgery I started sleeping better than I think I ever had, and I'm pretty sure my wife did, too!
You won't regret it, Ken.  PM me if you have questions, and I'll help however I can.

Thanks guys. I have a pre-op appt. where they test you for Covid. I am sure they are going to run that puppy up my non-existent Schnoz. Looking forward to that less than I am the Surgery where I will be under.

Chris/Neo, I appreciate you guys. (But) I'm good.

Neo, I'm in the same boat. Right side about 98% closed off, left side about 80% closed off.

Had a bad nasal infection about 2-3 months ago. 10 days of hard core Antibiotics. That was pretty much the last straw. Started making some inquiries. Hope I don't get screwed on this deal. It is all VA referral to private practice Ear, Nose & Throat Surgeon/Boone, NC. Hospital for Surgery.

My prayers are with you on this, Ken.   Make sure you let us know when it's about time to take place.

Just be sure you get a surgeon that has done thousands of these procedures if possible. If experienced, they pretty much have this type of thing down. The main concern,......as always with surgery, is infection. My best friend's wife had the sinus 'roto-rooter' job done, got a severe infection and things got really hairy shall we say. She got over it with the help of a top notch infectious disease doc, and is still glad she had it done.

Ken I hope it goes well for you
let us know the good out come

when I was about 18 months old  ( 1958 or so )  my head went thru a windshield my mom told me they ( doctors )  for the most part had to sew my nose back on , I had about 100 + stiches in my face and head
my whole life I have had trouble breathing thru it .. for a long time the thought of some one gaging me with  a rag or rope just scared me I just know I would not be able to breath ..
I have thought about having it done but have always talked my self out of it .  I sleep with two pillows under my head and use the breath rite strips which help
one old memory I have held on to
many many  years ago a coworker had it done ( I am sure it a lot different now as all things ) when done rotoruting  his nose they packed his nose with gauze many feet of it per him , he pulled it all out as he was panic mode at home  , but bleeding forced him back to the ER they had to repack it all back in told him leave it alone  but in the end he loved it

Ditch, weve talked about this before. One of my biggest nightmares is being subdued and having my mouth gagged/taped shut. I would slowly suffocate. I inquired specifically about my nose being packed, and they say they no longer do that. You wear a "nose pillow" held in place by an elastic band around your head/neck.

This Surgeon is the main Nose guy at the Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery Center. I would imagine he has done thousands.

If you've not tried it yet, try Flonase (Fluticisone) I was prescribed it at the VA a couple months ago. Works better than anything I have tried before, by far. (The only thing that seems to have worked.)

Cortico-Steroid reduces the swelling in your sinuses.

Hi Ken, my Dr. prescribed that for me, but it doesn't work half the time for me. The only thing that really helped was Vick's sinus severe. The downside to that is that I could only take it once every 3 days, or it would plug me up solid.

bet they find that M&M you stuck in there when you were little....    from the last few surgeries I have had, I have found the worrying  you do before surgery is worse than the surgery, good luck

After they swapped that Chicken brain in to your head hillbille, I bet the "worrying" went way down for you. 😉 How do you type on the Computer? Hunt and Peck?

Why did the hillbille cross the road? 🤔

I do remember my Sister having to go to the ER on base, because she had stuck this big purple bead/fake pearl in to her ear. I still bring that up and laugh at her. 😂
