Water leak;;

So, we have a Water Hero system on our water line. Around 4 pm Denise get an alert text that water hero detected water flow and shut down water to the house. Checking the system on her app wifey sees the valve is in fact closed after a flow of about 2 gallons. She re-sets and opens the valve. Darn, there is still water flow, so she shuts it off.(all by using her phone). Knowing I'll be home soon she leaves it. I get home and listen to a message Denise left on the house phone. I check water hero from my computer. Yep, valve closed. Re-set and opened valve. Crap, there is water flow. I shut it down and start searching the house for a leak,busted pipe,puddle on the floor. Nothing. No leaks no water anywhere. One more check in the kitchen. Refer & ice maker check, D/W check, kitchen sink, WTH??? The faucet on the sink is turned fully on. There is no water flowing because we have the valve set to close. Turn off the faucet, go to computer and open valve through water hero. No water flow. The flow/ water leak was the kitchen faucet being open. Seems the two four legged lil kitty sisters were on the counter, at the sink, and somehow opened the faucet at around 4 pm

    Joe - Looked at their website, interesting product. Not a lot of info though on the different scenarios that it would shut down for.

    My guess would be you program it for normal activities, like you’re home from 5:30 pm - 7:30 am during the week. While your gone, no water should run, barring an ice maker, or furnace humidifier. When your home, showers between 6:00 -7:00 weekdays, washer, sink, dishwasher in the evening are normal activities etc. Then if it detects an oddity, off goes the water and your phone buzzes so you can investigate or override, and you can easily flip it from home to away mode?

    How cool is that though great product, when I was much younger before Al Gore invented the Internet I was messing around with a device that would pick up the continuity of a water leak and shut off a electric solenoid valve around a water heater and also using a solenoid at the washer wall connection instead of the washer. I wondered about a device that could sense full on water flow but had no clue.

    The unit measure flow by time.  You have 3 settings, Home,Away,Disarm.  You set the amount of TIME to elapse before it shuts off.  I have Home set for 30 minutes,  Away is set for one minute.  If water flows to the time set, it will close the valve on your main water line, and send you a text and e-mail.  You can change settings,check status, ect.  from anywhere on your phone or computer.   Disarm is jut that.  It will disarm the system completely, which I set it to when watering the lawn.

    Make sure the security is set up right when you use Internet connected devices.  Many of them are fairly easy to hack and get used for "ransom" demands.  You want water?  Pay the man Bitcoin.

    Don't keep cats in the house. Cats on the counter where food is prepared?  You know what they use to cover their poopies, right?

    outside???  No no, this is Montana.  There are wild animals outside, bears,rabbits, gazells, rhinos.
    They need to get on the counter, to potty, that's where their box is,,,,
