Sight replacement.....

Just got an email from XS Sights advertising their new revolver sights. Just to see what they had to say about replacement, I clicked on their "how to" video. Even though it's not a revolver, it sure wasn't they way I was taught to do it, what do you think??

    I don't like his method at all. First, that was a very coarse metal file. To remove such a slight amount of metal, I'd use a stone. After all, there is no need to rush. Second, thread locking fluids are designed to do exactly that: lock threads on bolts and cap screws. I don't see any threads in that dovetail grove. Frankly, it looked like he had close to a perfect fit right out of the box. Tap the new sight into the dove tail groove and then tighten the lock screws, using thread locking fluid on the screws if you wish.

    I see that we think alike... I agree that it looked almost perfect right out of the box. What really got me is, not only why, but why did he use the locking fluid before he even sighted in the gun????

    Sounds like the guy that was advising folks to use a micrometer to perfectly center their rear sight so they would not have to shoot the gun to refine their adjustments.
