Not a Triumph.....but Here’s My New Ride!
Always wanted a dual-sport, and finally brought one home. Kawasaki really hit a home-run with this little bike. Smooth, light, comfortable, and great power delivery. So far, I love it! Highly recommend the KLX230 if you are in the market for this type of bike.

Nice. I like the color scheme. 3 -
Very nice. I like your bike. More what I need now days.
I've got a BMW dual sport F650. Great Touring bike, it'll hurt you "Off Road."
Popular for the Paris-Dakar rally set up right though. Rotax/Aprilla engine, only chain drive bike BMW ever made. (I believe.)
Great BMW web site called "The Chain Gang" devoted to this bike. (Very Interesting site.)
The KLR650 also has a Cult following. (I contemplated buying one.) Did more road miles (commuting) just then. Wanted a bike to eventually do the Trans-Alaska Highway with.

Are you not riding the adult tricycle anymore?????????? 0 -
Very nice! I'm seriously considering selling the road burner and picking up a Honda XR650R.
Smiles per mile is where it's at.3 -
The Honda 650 is a classic Baja-worthy beast for sure. Way too tall for me, though!

Well? Did you ever do the Alcan on a bike? Do tell! I've driven that thing 11 times and don't miss it. 0 -
Negative. One of life's little dreams that I never pulled off. A regret. Ended up having Heart Surgery instead, about the time I was going to do it. (2005)
Was going to load my bike on the back of my pickup, drive from NY/NJ up into Western Canada until the scenery got nice, pay a gas station to let me leave my truck there and then head North West.
I did do many trips from NY/NJ up and down the Coast of Maine and Nova Scotia.
What Bike did you use for the Alcan?
(I was East Coast, so it would have been more difficult to pull off.)

Oh I'm sorry, I never did it on a bike, usually in pickup trucks.
It's never too late to make that ride. They've pretty much paved the whole thing now and it's smooth sailing. Maybe start in Alberta somewhere ... Banff is spectacular. Head toward Whitehorse and don't be in a hurry. Kluane Lake is gorgeous and has a nice campground, Fort Nelson, Wolf Creek outside Whitehorse ... tons of great camping and plenty of hotels. The old long stretch outside Ft. Nelson where you had to worry about gas is long gone. Go for it!0 -
I agree, that Banff/Lake Louise is spectacular. Definitely one of the most Beautiful places I have ever been. (And I have been all over/around the World.)
I was about to be impressed. 11 times Alcan on a Bike? Dayum.
The lure of it back then, was it was NOT all paved.

Yeah back then there were 50 mile stretches made of rocks the size of cantaloupes kinda pressed down. Or construction areas that turned to mud pits and they had to pull you through with heavy equipment. One year there'd been a population explosion of gophers and thousands of them lined the road for miles and miles and miles. They'd dart across and after awhile you quit trying to miss them. One year I did it in 47 hours and 59 minutes in a '68 Mustang, Spokane to Anchorage. 0
