Redneck goat gate

Goofy goats want to habitat on the deck. It wouldn't be an issue if they were house trained. I'm not the Navy so I have no need for a poop deck.


Gathered up scrap lumber from the barn and put together two gates. Will break out the Dremel multi-tool to "pretty" them up. For the moment they are doing their job.

    They will eat the gate then poop sawdust on your deck!

    Goats are smart.  Put a sign on the gate.  COME ON IN. WE ARE HAVING GOAT BBQ.

     as long as it works function over aesthetics for now  

     when my wife had her pet goats ( she misses them like all pets we have had )  they ate part of the sliding doors I had on the  goat shed , I built for them and even some of the  siding on a old chicken shed when she would let them free range ..
    both sheds  I had  sheathed in the t-11 wood siding not sure if the wood or the paint attracted them .
    oh they loved to eat the bark off tress among other things  we had to put guards up around the young  trees LOL

    Several wood pallets in use as "goat gates". Goats are one of the most aggravating domestic animals I've had the misfortune to handle.

    What keeps them from eating the rag top off of that car or up on top with hooves dangling inside and chewing their way out?

    Probably just a matter of time.
    Might need to use the Dremel tool and give them goats some dental work.

    Most destructive critters I know of . My brother owned a pair who had been raised by a local florist . They got all the scraps so to speak from the florist shop and were addicted to roses . I grew prize winning roses and was at the time a test grower for pre release roses for Jackson and Perkins . Brothers goats got out one day and destroyed close to 75 of my roses . Most of which never recovered . Did I mention I hate goats ?

    That gate is not red neck. Redneck is when you still use old Jiffy pop popcorn kettles hung over the doorway for smoke and fire alarms in your house.  Over the years they have saved me a lot of money not having to buy batteries every 6 months.

    Actually I think they are Democrats. They aren't living up to their promise, and always looking for a handout.


    As brush cutters I think I'm going to have to increase the herd or find some Republicans. Lol.

    Nice pictures and gate, but aren't you afraid someone will infringe on your design

    In all seriousness, run a diagonal brace from top on hinge side to lower on latch side.  Can be timber, can be metal strap, can even be heavy wire.  If you don't.  it is going to sag eventually.
