Attempted break in at store...
or just vandalism. Someone threw a cantaloupe sized rock through our giant window up front in the store.
Not sure, my guess is they were testing or security, seeing how long it takes for police to respond, etc.
Got the call about 2am. Went to town, probably takes me about 10 minutes to get to town once I get the call from the security company. The police officer said she was there roughly 1 minute after getting the call(small town).
I posted up a $1000 reward for info, has around 300 shares so far on our FB page. Hopefully someone wants to get paid.
I just taped it up the best I could for the night.

Maybe the gas station has video cameras? Or yours? I hope you catch the crook/vandal and they get a harsher penalty then becoming a leftwing hero 0 -
Response time check or maybe hoping the alarms would be turned off for the rest of the night so they could come back. Looks like they had to pack the rock with them onto the lot so probably not a drunk or a kid that just thought it would be cool to break some glass. Hope you catch em. 3 -

That is our gas station. We have fairly extensive camera coverage...inside, but nothing outside. Never needed outdoor cameras in 30 years but we decided that I'm going to have them added to our system now, I'll call tomorrow to schedule an install to have them added to our existing system.

Last place I worked at (small town of about 35,000) before retirement had 16 cameras located both inside and outside, also a silent alarm service connected direct to the PD. The interior cameras also had heat/motion sensors. The PD station was 5 - 6 blocks away. And an outside alarm horn that could be heard 3 - 5 blocks (or more) away. If the power was interrupted the system was still active with a battery backup and if the phone lines were cut, the alarm would instantly activate.
Also, the cameras could be viewed remotely via computer and/or cell phone.Yes, we are a town of 2200. We have a similar security set-up minus outdoor cameras. Glass break, motion, door sensors, backup, remote viewing. Phone lines are irrelevant because modern systems use both phone and cell. Generally a modern system is tough to beat unless you really really know what you're doing.
I just talked to security company to nail the timeline down. Alarm(not silent, very loud) tripped at 1:49. I was called at 1:51 and that was after they dispatched police. Police said they were here approximately one minute after being called, i believe her because even driving the speed limit you could traverse our whole town in around 2 minutes.

It probably cracked due to climate change. 6 -
And what did she do after arriving? Huh? 0 -
Must have been an 'assault rock', much more dangerous than your ordinary rock. If they can figure out the quarry that it came from, maybe the quarry could be sued, just like ammo makers. 3 -

I seen convenient stores with gas pumps closed at 10 pm and shutter their windows every night and re-opening at 6 am now which is a good idea if I was in the business. Works for riots and inclement weather also. Mileage will vary however.
