All my computer problems went away when I got rid of Norton.

papernicker, I may not have been clear (I usually am).  I have my "favorite" tool bar showing all my folders except one that is called "coin".  I've looked though all my other folders and don't see it elsewhere.  My hope is that I can do a Norton restore to find it but I've never restored anything and don't know how.

All Norton does is use up a lot of HD space.  Try a system restore to a date when your file was present.
Dump Norton.   Malwarebytes Pro + W- Defender is a good combo.  Norton may refund purchase price.
    Good Luck.

I replied to your other thread on this. But I forgot to remind you that the FIRST step in any Windows problem is to reboot. (If you are lucky, you won't get a blue screen saying Windows is updating and stays that way for three hours.) You might find that the problem went away.
Your basic problem is Windows and Norton, but the solution always falls on deaf ears.

If you get them all back (and for anyone else using Firefox) follow these steps to create a safe backup file of bookmarks:
Jeff, if you have another browser on your 'puter to which you previously imported your Firefox bookmarks, you may be able to import them back INTO firefox. Follow the Import steps in the above link instead of Export.
It'e early. Sorry if I keep remembering things after I post something else...

Thanks for the Firefox bookmarks save, I been trying to  find a way , for several weeks, after no problems for fifteen yrs of FF. I dont think that Jeff has that problem thou. Hope he tried search on "Coins. " in C drive; from the Start button. Anyways just Google recover deleted files and download a program.

That's also good advice. I'm working from memory about Windows because even though I was a Microlimp user since MS-DOS back in the 80s, I switched to Linux Mint in January of this year. My recollection of Windork is already dimming because none of those emergency procedures are needed in Linux Mint - the Timex of operating systems.

I'm confused.  My (latest) version of Firefox doesn't have Favorites, it has Bookmarks.  And, Bookmarks are just links.  I don't understand how you can have folders within links.  Obviously, the solution is beyond my understanding.

Neal, you can have folders OF links within Bookmarks. I have folders for Daily (in which GB resides, among others), Space, Fishing, Golf, Computer Stuff, Travel, and more. I have never had a Firefox Bookmarks folder disappear, but anything is possible. I know folks who suddenly lost ALL their bookmarks. Which is why - even with Sync activated - it pays to periodically Export your list to a separate file. I keep mine in my Documents folder, and just updated it due to this thread.
Papernicker and anyone else, there are literally hundreds of different Linux systems, but let me save you the anguish of exploring them. Just download the latest version of Mint Cinnamon, install it to a USB stick and set your computer to boot to that stick. Then use Mint for as long as you like WITHOUT having to install it to your SSD. It has a TRY ME mode that is almost fully functional. No risk. Assuming you like what you see, you can then just click on Install. Or not, if you don't. Your Windork will still be there when you remove the USB stick. I have a detailed How-To article on it. PM me with your email if you'd like, or search YouTube for vids on how to install/use Mint.

No need. Everything is on Youtube, you know!
Here's one that's good, but the guy is a bit hard to understand sometimes, and he does use too much jargon and acronyms.

Yes Neal, I should have said Bookmarks instead of Folders.  I guess I'm still stuck in the past.  Rocky, I didn't think anyone else on here ever worked with DOS!
Thanks for all the replies guys,

Look in your Bookmarks sidebar for a folder called Most Visited. That may be what you're looking for.

I looked and thats not there either, just an option to view history by most visited and other options such as when visited etc

I now call it Windoze and hope you would too, one Rocky to another. Jeff did you  find your coin websites, if that was your issue

No papernicker, and I've looked all over to see if it was moved withing my bookmark list.  I looked in the bookmark history and it showed my history but not the folder within bookmarks where it originated.  I'm trying to rebuild a newly named folder within bookmarks and have about 10 items created but there were many more.   My last hope is to try to figure out how to restore from my auto-backup within Norton.
Thanks again guys. Things were so much simpler when I was using a slide rule and a t-square & board!

Thanks for all the replies guys,

Back in the day, I wrote hundreds of programs using DOS on my IBM PCjr. It was a lot of fun for me.

Bubba, you remember the Radio Shack TRS-80, where you had to keyboard the entire Basic program in each and every time you wanted to use the "computer"? THAT's where I got started.

Rocky, you have me by a couple of years.  While I remember the TRS-80 my first was a Commodore 64.  I still have the color dot matrix printer somewhere.
