The Bridgers are burning

and it's not good.  The elevation of the mountain range is aprx. 8700 ft. top,and base at 6100 ft.  










The 'M' is a very popular attraction.  Has a hiking trail up to it.

    ya,  what school/town is that around?....last fire i heard was near Ennis...Lonnie's stomping grounds.  very lucky so far around me.  what few fires caused by lightning has been dealt with quick.

    Wow, an Embraer being used as a fire bomber, never saw one of those before!  I guess it makes sense, but didn't know they had them in service for this purpose.  Those are some cool pictures.  I'd love to sit on the flight deck during one of those runs!  I'll bet every alarm imaginable is going off.  "Terrain...pull UP.  Terrain...Pull UP.  Sink rate!  Sink rate!  Airspeed.  Terrain...Pull UP.  Sink rate!  Pull UP"



    I thought the Embraer was a low winged, twin engine plane?  The ones pictured are a BAE-146 variant, though the nose looks a lot like the Embraer.  We had some of those based here in La Grande a couple summers back.  One of their nicknames is a 'Whisper Jet' and they are indeed real quiet, relatively speaking.

    LOL...you are exactly right, @NeoBlackdog.  I had a brain fart!  What a dumb mistake!  Especially for me!
    LOL!  It happens.  The only reason I knew about the 146's is from watching them fly over LG when they were based here.  
    This year there are a couple of tankers that look like Lear Jets that they've been flying a bunch, McDonnel Douglas MD-87's. 
    1000 gallons more capacity than the BAe-146's even though the 146 looks like a bigger plane.

    Probably, at the Ariel Fire Depot. You do know that is where Smokejumpers were born, right?

    oh yes,  have visited it a couple times. a girl friend of my son and DIL works for the tanker company
